Blog #6 2019

Last day of the weekend...NNOooooooo..  . ;0)

Okay so last night when I was making dinner I noticed how dirty the oven was (there was even a little bit of smoke coming out from something burnt).  I hadn't noticed it before because like I said I usually am not the one to cook.

I saw the movie Aquaman was playing at our local theater today around 1PM.  So I asked hubby if he wanted to go if he felt up to it.  If he was not up to it, I was going to clean the oven instead of going to the movie.  He felt a little better today and even went 'picking' this morning as he sometimes does, so I got out of cleaning the oven.  :)

The movie was very good.  The special effects were good and Jason Momoa...well let's just say I don't think I could ever get tired of watching him.   LOL.   I looked him up after we got home and I have to give Lisa Bonet a high five for marrying him.  She is 51 and he is only 39!  You go girl!!  They already have 2 children together but just got married near the end of 2017.  So not sure what took so long but hey, none of my business.

When the movie ended hubby was about to get up but I asked him to wait.  All avid Marvel movie goers know that there is always a future scene after some of the credits. Many people walked out and missed it, but sure enough there was a clip.  Looks like there will be an Aquaman 2.  Who is going to see that one ?  This lady is!!!  Hope it will be sooner than later.

It was a nice warm weekend for January.  It got up to 73 yesterday and right now at 5PM it is still 68 and sunny.  It is nice to get a teaser of spring every once in a while.

Blog #5 2019

I like numbering my blog titles.  It keeps me motivated to write every day knowing I want to stay in order of the days in the year.  :)

Those who know me, know that sometimes I work a lot. And so since hubby has a bit more time that I do, we have taken a sort of traditional role reversal these last 5 years or so.  So he has been the one doing the grocery shopping, doing most of the cleaning and making dinner every night for the most part.

Today, however his throat had been really bothering him.  His voice sounded more like Sam Elliott and although I love the sound, I could tell he was hurting.  He asked if I could make dinner.  Well I honestly could make dinner every weekend if he wanted as my work has not been spilling into the weekends as of late.

Anyway, I gladly agreed to make dinner, but what was so funny was...he was acting so much like a wife who doesn't like her husband in the kitchen.

He was telling me where things were and how long to put things in the oven.  And he went to get the perogies for me from the freezer. I had to keep saying "I thought you wanted ME to make dinner".  It was just so funny that a man can act just like a woman when he is used to doing things she usually does.  He Finally went to sit in the living room after it was clearly pointed out to him a few times that if he was going to just do things in the kitchen he might as well make it himself.  I found myself shaking my head. LOL.

Today our Ditzy was sleeping with part of her tongue out which is so cute to me!  She doesn't seem to ever notice it but it makes for a cute picture so I took a couple.

Blog #4 2019

Yippee it is Friday again!!  I really have been loving these holiday weeks.  Next week will be a real adjustment getting used to working 5 days in a row.  LOL

Well I did as I committed and set my mammogram appointment finally.  They had an opening today at 4:30PM but I didn't take that, since I need to clear it with my work first.  So I have an appointment Tuesday morning.  They wanted me to get a 3D Mammogram but I'm opting for the same digital type that I have been getting the last 6 years or so.  Although the new ones can view the images in 'slices', I would rather not have something newly suspicious found and cause more angst and tests and potential for it to be nothing, like the botched up needle biopsy I had about 13 years ago.  What got me perturbed was that if I hadn't asked what type I was getting, they would have just done the 3D anyway as that is what she told me they would do, until I insisted on the one I've been getting.  She said that insurance covers the new improved 3D Imaging but I don't care.  I just think there is more chance of more false positives.  I will just keep my fingers crossed that it will all go well and that I'll be clear.

I did my Paparazzi Live sale this evening (ship to US only).  I do them every Friday evening as a way to promote my Paparazzi jewelry business.  Feel free to watch if you are in the US and shop if you'd like too. :)

Tomorrow is the Empty Nester lunch club get together.  There are many that can't come so it will probably be a light group.  But that is fine with me.  I'm just glad that I have been able to make some local friends finally.  :-)

Blog #3 2019

It is Friday eve'  yeah!!!

I can tell folks are back from vacation as things are picking up on the work front.
It was rainy a good portion of today but the sun finally came out this afternoon.  My mood always lifts when it is sunny out so I was feeling in a better spirit by the end of the work day.

I had a hair appointment after that and my wonderful hair dresser got me looking sassy again. Woo hoo! I am ready to have another weekend already.  LOL.  Bring it on.

Not sure what I'll do but I know the bathrooms are in need of cleaning so that is definitely on the weekend list.  Hopefully will do something fun to offset that un-fun but necessary task.

I never did get my mammogram by the end of the year either so swore to myself that I will call them tomorrow to get it scheduled finally.  No more excuses  :-)

Blog #2 2019

Today I missed out on my walk this morning.  It was pouring rain and only in the mid 30's (barely above freezing), so alas I had to skip it today.  Then it continued to rain the rest of the day bleh!

I am very glad that today was already hump day.  It was a pretty uneventful day all in all.  Things are always a bit slow during the holidays.

My youngest had given me a spiralizer for Christmas and I forgot to mention that Monday I used it for the first time with zucchini and it was a lot of fun and very easy to use.  I stir fried it with some onion for some yummy vegetables to have with dinner that night.  I am going to look up soups and other recipes that I can use it for.  It is exciting, like a kid getting a new toy!

Happy New Year! Blog #1 of 2019

Well here it is the 1st of a new year!   We didn't bother trying to stay up late last night, though I did wake up just after midnight to the television celebration.  We left the TV on because of all the local illegal firework activity going on which scared one of our dogs really badly.   It did help calm her down enough to get to sleep.

Actually got a little over 9 hours of sleep too.  I haven't slept that long in I don't know how long.  It felt great to get that much sleep though I hate how fast the rest of the day went. LOL.

Today I visited with a group of gals to play some games.  One of the gals in the empty nesters group I started suggested it last week and offered up her home to have it at. I thought it would be fun.  Although there were only 4 of us, we had a good time.  We had lots of snacks and the game we played was fun.  It was called Qwirkle.  I've never played it before. I have to say I haven't played any games except for playing cards in a long time.  This gal had several games too but I hadn't heard of any of them. I am impressed that there are still new board and other games being made and sold because I wasn't really sure how popular they still are with all the video/computer games out there. So glad to see it.

Well back to the grind tomorrow...at least it will already be Hump Day.. :-)

End of 2018

So the end of this year is drawing very near....

Today was a rainy, cold, lazy Sunday. So says Ditzy

How about some New Year's Resolutions?   I hate making resolutions, because they don't usually get kept.  But hey...they are a tradition right?

#1  Blog EVERY day.. it may get boring because my life is not all blog worthy..but I will resolve to write every day of 2019.

#2 Read 40 books with my Mom & Me book club (with daughter Dani).  Per my daughter we've read about 20 books in 2018 (reading the 20th now).

#3 Save more and spend less.  Retirement is still about a half a dozen years away but I feel the need to start saving and not spend so much including donations.  I tend to be a sucker for dog rescues.

I've even been day dreaming a little about retirement.  There is a part of me that is absolutely afraid of it, afraid that I'll lose my sense of self-worth because so much of my focus has been my career.  But when I can tuck that fear into a small box toward the back of my brain and let myself think about retirement in a good sense, I think of what can be done with the freedom of time.

I saw yesterday an article titled "The best 'hole in the wall' diners in every state of the US".  I turned to my hubby and said, "Wouldn't it be fun to travel around to each of these diners in every state when we retire?" I think it would be fun...though wouldn't do it all at once.   I also have nostalgic, dreamy thoughts about driving the entire Route 66 to see all the unique places on that route.  So that is another 'retirement dream'.  And there is still more dreaming to be done. :)

I think that is all the resolutions I'm setting for 2019.  We'll see how well it goes.
