So it is looking like it may rain again soon. I think in another week it will be finally be done with the rainy season. Who knows though. I can still say that I have yet to turn the sprinklers on this year.
Good news. No blind snakes or big bugs in the house for over a week now :)
I am working this weekend for once. Really haven't had to work the weekend in a while. I'm fine with that. It gives me a good excuse for not cleaning. LOL.
Got some more Trust stuff done at the bank today with mom. I think that just about wraps up the major things. I still have to ask about my dad's car (whether we have to do something now about transferring the title to mom or if we can just transfer directly to sister in the end). We'll do whatever is needed to make it easy for all.
I'm looking forward to some of the summer shows to start up as I'm getting tired of re-runs. Even America's Got Talent is a repeat from the other night. I saw Night Shift last night, one of the good ones and I'm looking forward to Zoo starting up again. Well going to make myself a frosty Kahlua and creme :)
6/23/13 ** Just changed the name of my blog. I am now officially an empty nester ** My countdown started in 2009 to becoming an empty nester as my youngest was headed to college. Now I just blog about whatever I feel like for as long as I feel like...

Two sides to every story
First of all, hubby bought me a new fruit to try out - a Mexican Papaya. Interesting huh?! I ate it just like cantaloupe. I removed the seed and then sliced up some pieces. I would say it is the same consistency as cantaloupe but not as sweet. I have quite a bit left over and will eat it over the next few days.
I wanted to share something that happened to hubby today. You know how there is the news story about the Gorilla who was shot after the 3 year old boy fell into the moat where the Gorilla(s) were in a zoo? There are many who are mad that the Gorilla was killed and there are many who blame the parents and think they should be arrested. Well you know what? Things happen. It is very hard to keep a hand on a curious child. I know this for a fact as there was more than one time I lost track of at least my oldest (she was a very sly child). The best decision was made to save that little boy in the fastest time possible. I don't blame the mother nor the zoo keepers (although they could put up more secure fencing - like chicken wire from the ground UP so that a little kid could not crawl through). But anyway there has been lots of controversy resulting from this incident and different sides taken.
Today hubby was waiting in traffic down the street when the car in front of him did not move forward when the car in front of him pulled away. He didn't know what the guy was doing but the next thing he knew the old man was out of his car walking toward hubby's truck but his car must have been in neutral because it drifted ever so slowly backward and tapped the front of hubby's truck (no damage luckily). My hubby got out of his truck and asked the guy what he was doing. The old man seemed somewhat confused and said he was trying to decide where to go. Hubby guesses he was in his 80's. He told the man that his car just tapped his truck. The man thought that hubby had backed into him (which was impossible anyway because hubby was behind him). He assured the man that HE had hit him.
Then he asked the man if he wanted him to call the police. The old man did not want hubby to call, so then hubby told him then you have to move (there were like 6 cars behind them at this point waiting to go down the road). Now my hubby talks rather loudly (he just always does because he is partly deaf in one ear). Just when he was telling the man that he has to move then, this man coming from the other way yelled out his window to hubby to stop picking on that poor old man. He shouted to my hubby that he had something for him and to stay there. My hubby does not back down easily so he stood there and the man parked his car in a nearby lot and walked over to him yelling that he should be ashamed of himself, etc. He basically walked away after that (hubby was bracing for a brawl). My husband did try to tell him that the man's car hit HIS TRUCK, but this jerk didn't want to listen to what really happened. So here's an example of another side of the story from someone who just saw a man talking loudly to an old man (and so this man thought he was coming to the old man's rescue). He even shouted to the people behind my hubby for support like can they believe that my hubby was treating this old man like that. He should have just minded his own business. He did not have any of the facts as to what really happened and just drew his own conclusions and actions. I'm just glad the something he had wasn't a gun or other weapon. You never know in this state!

Gilligan my little buddy
Look who was still in my office this morning? I'm calling him Gilligan. I was so surprised that he was still here (remember that I have not been in my office since Friday). So glad he was okay all that time.
I think he is back in the garage now as I left my office door open for a while and it was at the threshold at one point. Spent the day getting back into the work groove. It was a decent day except we got MORE rain. It wasn't a ton but it really has been raining just about every day this month!

Memorial Day
Happy Memorial Day. It was a day of remembrance but also a day off work. I came back from visiting the youngest about 1:00 this afternoon. It felt so much like a Sunday today. I did some laundry and just relaxed and watched a Harry Potter movie. I haven't seen any of those movies for a while now.
It will of course seem like Monday tomorrow when I'm back to work. At least it will be a short work week. :-)
Caught this cute shot of Tika resting on a toy. She doesn't even play with it very much but she wanted to nap with it today after I got home. She could finally rest from her vigilance for my returning home. She really hates when I go away.

Popping In
Just popping in to say that I'm visiting the youngest so that is why I did not blog yesterday. I drove down here yesterday on I-35 versus the toll road and it wasn't that bad at all. It was stop and go some through Austin but there was no stand stills for too long at a time nor any accident so that was nice. Had a nice lunch at Panara Bread and a so-so dinner at Johnny Carino's. The shrimp dish I had included Applewood bacon but it was not fully cooked, and I really hate fatty bacon, so that put a bit of a damper on it. But great company and is is nice visiting the youngest and her doggy again. Bailey has mellowed out these last few years. She is not nearly as jumpy as she was.

Is something watching me?
I had the feeling all afternoon that something was watching me...
Too funny!!! I'm not sure where it is now but it was exploring my office most of the afternoon.

Friday Fun Dress
Here is what I am wearing today. No full head shot because I didn't wear any makeup today since I went to the dermatologist. Oops I also forgot to put some bling on. Oh well. Think maybe today my dress is blingy enough. :) It is easier for her to examine me if I'm not wearing any jewelry either. She treated a small wart I have that I notice on my foot near my heal (but on the flat part that walk on). I have to see if it works, and if not can do the home treatment with a product that removes them. Anyway she did see a tiny 'black' mole on my back so she removed it and it is being biopsied. I'm hopeful that she got it all and that it was nothing more than the other things she have removed that have been abnormal at best. Well got to get back to work. :) I was easily able to wear a dress or skirt all week (may give myself a pass tomorrow as visiting the youngest and don't really want to wear a dress or skirt there). We'll see. In case I don't write later, hope everyone who celebrates has a great Memorial Day weekend!
