Snail Wall

Hubby was clearing out a bunch of weeds along the back porch where we have a garden area well where we want to plant some flowers.  He has one side weeded already and put the weed guard down.  I went outside to check out how things were going and I saw it, a wall of snails!.  I don't know how there are that many out there.  It isn't like we live at any shore or near any lake. Here are some pictures of an area where a bunch were attached to the wall.  One is even in a knot hole in one of the back porch support posts. Just so weird!!

More fruits ...er veges of my persistence...

Here I have my very first green bell pepper! Dad, you shouldn't have let the ones I gave you die. :-( I started all these babies from seeds. So I'm excited to say the least that some are actually finally bearing veges.



Also another cucumber growing. There are actually 3 growing even though there appears to be only one or maybe two vines still alive.




And here's a gecko as close up as I could get that likes to reside in and around our powder room. I didn't want to draw too much attention to it so that none of the dogs wouldn't attack it!

Yay!

I have always told my kids that they can do anything they really want to do...case in point, I started a balcony garden this year. This is the first time I have ever tried to have a vegetable garden on the balcony but I started out several things as seedlings which looked wonderful by the time I was planting them in the pots placed along the balcony. Despite over 50 days of 100 degrees or more this summer, I continued to water the garden. So much of it has burned up, dried and just gave in to the summer heat.




But....I kept at it and low and behold a beautiful cucumber is almost ready to pick!
So satisfying! Yay me for not giving up! I'm glad I can be an example for my kids!
