Catching up

I posted those pictures of the music room the other day because hubby wanted to post some to his page on sing snap but they had to be on a website.  He couldn't just upload pictures which I thought was odd. But adding them to a post got what we needed for him.

This was a rough week work wise.  Just some tedious work but it happens sometimes.  It was also busy otherwise. Monday I had the follow up to my root canal which I thought would be an easy, short appointment. Was I wrong about that!  She had to numb up my mouth (both in front and behind that tooth,) which always hurts. And she struck a nerve or something because the next day it was sore and a little swollen and it wasn't until Today that it didn't hurt any more when I ran my finger over the gum area where one of the needles was inserted.  They also had to fill the empty root canal with those stems or whatever you call them and anyway the appointment took at least as long as the first time. Their 'air' equipment stopped working too. And the x-ray when I first got there didn't look any different than it did the last time I went over a month ago.  Turns out the bone replenishing takes 6 months to a year to grow back to what it was before. Didn't know that either!  With the amount of times I brush my teeth (ever since the Invisalign it is 4-6 times/day), I am surprised I even GOT an abscessed tooth.

Wednesday was Tika's turn to get her teeth cleaned. She will turn 11 years old next week, so she is our 2nd oldest senior.  We had to take her there at 7:30AM and pick her up around 4:00PM. Luckily she only needed two teeth removed.  I was happy about that.

Then yesterday we had an appointment with an attorney to see about getting a Trust for us.  The attorney was very nice and I'm looking forward to working with her.  We were there over an hour and I had to clock in to work after we got back (and ate).

So there was a lot of stuff going on as I said.  I am glad it is Friday!

The only outside appointment next week is my dermatologist regular appointment to get my body checked. Hopefully that will be fine.

I didn't intentionally start out with all these appointments so close together.  Some were made over a month ago. It is just how it turned out.  But like I said it is Friday, time for some R & R :)

Sunday before MLK day

So here it is almost halfway through January.  I am working tomorrow too as we got that option (to get a floating holiday).

The weather here has been up and down. We have gotten some pretty cold days/nights (nights down to 28 degrees which is pretty low for this part of Texas). Then we've had some day time highs that reached 70 degrees.  The next weather event is for this Tuesday we may get some freezing rain/sleet or even snow.  It figures as I have my follow up appointment with the Endodontist for a check up on my root canal and if it looks good, get the permanent filling put in. So I hope the roads won't be bad.  I may ask my hubby to take me. Luckily it is less than 3 miles away.  Around here they do not treat roads for ice though so we'll see how it is.

Friday morning it got quite busy around here.  There was a fire truck and then an ambulance outside that were attending to our neighbors across the street.  Although we don't really get together, I was hoping they were okay.  The wife came out with her arm in a sling but that is all we really saw.  She contacted me later that morning. Turns out her husband had a knee replacement operation on Wednesday and she had just picked him up Thursday from the hospital. Friday morning he lost his balance in the bathroom where she was near by and he fell backwards and hit her going down. She broke her wrist and he busted his stitches open from his operation.  I offered to help any way I could.

She got home from the hospital early afternoon. I went over right after we had dinner and brought her mail in for her.  Her husband had his leg worked on again and stayed in the hospital until today.  I made my crock pot meatloaf and potatoes for them to have for dinner tonight. I also took her to the hospital yesterday so that she could take some clothes, etc., to him.  I am more than happy to help and we really got to chat some too and catch up with our lives.  It was actually nice as we feel like we have no friends here and rarely talk to anyone.   But by reaching out in neighborly friendship, we got to reconnect with them some.  I told her we should get together sometime soon after she and her hubby have recovered.  Steve offered to drive them anywhere they need as well.

I'm enjoying the reading I'm doing with the oldest. We have just started the 5th book in a series.  It is a very interesting story too so it has been lots of fun.  The Olympics are coming up next month too which is something I look forward to watching.  So even though we are in the dead of Winter, these things will help make it still fun....until Spring is here and it will be warmer and the daylight longer.

Starting 9th year...

It is hard to believe but I am starting the 9th year of this blog. Yep. It all started back in 2009 when I still had one at home..well starting college. Now the oldest has been married for 3 years, and the youngest is in her fifth year as a teacher.  Time sure flies huh?!

Well I'm back into the work groove but it will take some getting used to writing the year 2018.  I made out some checks for bills today and the first one I had to change from a 7 to an 8. Luckily that isn't very hard to do. I'm sure I'll have it down pat about the time when fall hits. :)

If my mom were still alive, she'd be turning 91 next week. It will be weird not celebrating it with her.  I'm sure I'll say a little Happy Birthday to her wherever she is.

It is finally getting a little warmer outside which I'm happy about. It is supposed to even hit the 60's this weekend. Woo hoo!!

Looking forward to filling up this year's blog with only funny, inspirational or happy stories! (Hopefully!!!)
