Rare rainy weekend

We are actually expecting rain this weekend and possibly through as late as Tuesday. Now for those areas that have gotten more than their fair share of rain this year, you may be thinking SO WHAT?

Well it is a big deal here in central Texas since we are still in a drought. I'm hoping perhaps if we do get lots of rain then our drought situation may be lifted which would be wonderful!.  It rained some last night, right before we were going to take our walk.  I was going to walk anyway after a little while as I saw it stopped, so hubby did go with me and it didn't rain any more during our walk anyway. Of course it didn't because we each brought umbrellas along - sure way to prevent it from raining - by bringing precautions along.

So I did do some work today just to catch up some. Now I have the rest of the weekend ahead of me. There is probably nothing good (new) to watch on TV tonight but tomorrow at least I've got Once Upon a Time and Revenge to look forward to. Tomorrow is also hubby's birthday.  We are not planning to eat out anywhere for it, because we already did for my birthday and our anniversary and don't really care to go out a third time this month. That would be a LOT for us.

Fall is here, really!

I know autumn is here because the calendar shows me so. I know it is here because it is dark now at 6:45AM when I get out of bed to exercise.  But I think someone forgot to tell Mother Nature.  Well, not really I guess for Texas.  It is just that it is still getting up to the upper 90's every day and I'd like to wear a few of my long sleeved tops that I got recently.  But if I wear them now I'll really sweat.

Hopefully it will just be a few more weeks and then I'll be able to wear one comfortably.

The new fall season openers on television have started and all I can say is it's about time!  LOL
I really like the new show Sleepy Hollow too.  I thought from the previews it might be corny, but it isn't. It has a serious storyline and is cleverly carried out.  So now I have another favorite to add to my list.  I saw Revolution last night as that was one of my favorites before but it just isn't as appealing to me as it used to be. But unless there is something else that I'd like to watch instead, will probably keep on watching it.
Nashville was on last night and I got to hear some of the great music on it. I love when that blond long haired gal (Scarlet) sings with her (ex) boyfriend.  They sound so great together.

Well gotta get to work. Looks like it is going to be another sunny day.  :-)

Cool mornings...

I can tell fall is here..well at least a hint of it is as the mornings have been cooler the last week or so. It has actually been down in the low 60's by morning which around here we have not experienced for months!

I am writing a short post as one of my kids reminded me that I had not blogged for a while. I decided I'll challenge myself to write every day in October like I did I think it was back in April.  It will be interesting to see what I can come up with to blog about.

I had yesterday off again!  Yes it is weird having days off but I have to use them or I'll lose them and here we are in September already. There was another reason I took off yesterday though, it was our 14th wedding anniversary.  Hubby was trying to calculate whether we've been married longer than all my husband's combined.  Maybe.  I didn't pull out any paperwork to check. LOL

We ate at our favorite restaurant, Saltgrass which has the best filet mignon in the state of Texas I think.

I also finally went to the dentist after more than three years.  It is the one my mother goes to and honestly she reminded me of a female version of the dentist I had back in PA that I loved so much. He was so kind and genuine and actually cared about your well being, not just how many crowns he can talk you in to. I knew I liked her when I told her the last dentist I went to was telling me I had cracks in two of my molars and that I needed two crowns costing around $3000.  This dentist told me yes there are cracks but we don't know how deep they are or how long they've been there..could be years and unless they start bothering me she saw no need for crowns.  Wow!  Yup!  I have found my dentist so now I don't mind getting my teeth cleaned every 6 months again.

That part was a little rough, I had a lot of plaque and she actually has to finish the cleaning when I go back in a few weeks as I do need a crown on a tooth that's been bothering me (quite frankly off and on since living in PA), but most recently consistently bothering me.

Well I need to get to work now.  Hope today is an easy day! :)

Orbs

I had a nice day off. Met my sister for lunch and then we strolled around the outlet mall that is near where we ate. I felt weird being off on a work day, but it was nice.  We ate a Pei Wei restaurant. I liked it when my daughters and I ate dinner up in Dallas so I remembered it was good.  A bit of disarray though as I thought they'd bring me my hot mandarin green tea.  I ended up having to go pick out a tea (none of which indicated green tea) after they told me they were up by the cash register. I guess everyone assumes one knows all the ins and outs of a restaurant, but I didn't.

Anyway looking forward to having tomorrow (my birthday) off too.  And what's great is then it will only be a 3 day work week for me to boot!

Over the weekend I took some photos of some furniture for hubby and one photo in particular had possibly 2 orbs in it.  I magnified the picture and we both think we see faces in them.  There looks to be a woman's face with curly hair in the one on top but I also see a man's face to the left of it. The lower one is harder to tell but if I long enough I can see at least one face.  Could be nothing.....but interesting to imagine..

Here is it blow up a bit more

Nice long weekend ahead

I am finally using a few of the many vacation days so I have off Monday and Tuesday. Yippee!

What better way to start off with morning coffee, my guitar and singing!  Even though my fingers hurt I was able to jam for over an hour.  I didn't do too badly considering I haven't played in a while. Haven't sung a whole lot either lately.  Still got that wish that some day I'll be able to be in a group, even if it is to be backup/harmony singer. I don't listen to the radio much so it would have to be a classic country or oldies band. LOL.

Hubby is out for a little bit so I am taking the opportunity to watch Twilight.  I just really like those movies so I have one popped in right now.

So, so far I am enjoying my vacation time....off to a great start!  Back to the movie...

Cabinet doors are in !

So excited to share that we got our doors and drawers back that we had painted white by a contractor that hubby knows. It looks great and I am included some Before pictures but mostly After pictures.Looks like a new kitchen to me!

Hubby had an excellent idea for the handles and knobs too.  We used the handles we had before, but the knobs we omitted the plate behind the knob so that they look more modern!  We didn't have to spend a dime on new knobs!

Here's one of the old ones to give a comparison

Here is the knob without the plate. Looks newer but keeps the country charm!

Sunday Eve

Well it is Sunday evening once again.  We just had a brief rain shower.  It wasn't very long but I'll take anything the sky gives us as the drought is just getting worse around here.

My work life has been like musical chairs these days but bottom line is, as long as there is still a chair left for me that's all that really matters right?  I am just very grateful to be working and at home no less, so I count my lucky stars, or just thank God.

My youngest who just started working two weeks ago already experienced musical chairs as she was transferred to a school that needed her more.  She handled the transition well and I am proud of her.
Things like this can only make us stronger right?

My oldest and I were chatting a few weeks ago and she told me she started writing a book when she had no more books to read.  She shared the first two chapters with me and I think they are great!  This is because I instantly wanted to read MORE of it!  I want to know what happens to the characters and more about them.  I do hope she keeps on working on it and doesn't let her daily life prevent her from pursuing it.

I pulled a red and a yellow pepper tonight to make with my stir fry vegetables that I had with dinner.   I had a purple potato left from my Greenling order two weeks ago and had an onion that actually was for a meatloaf for next Saturday but I can get another one before then. So I threw all of that in some olive oil and chopped garlic.  Yum!

Hope the rest of the evening goes slowly....I don't like Mondays.

Checking in

Okay so I haven't written since last Friday.  I will write a few lines so that everyone knows I am still alive. LOL.

Good news is, it is Friday. Better news is I don't have to PAINT anymore kitchen cabinets :)
I am hoping we'll have the refinished doors and drawers by Monday/Tuesday and then I'll take some more pictures and post them.

Well I gave up on my melons. Most of the vines were brown and no fruit ever got started.  I am still going to plant some more for the fall and need to get moving on buying some non-GMO seeds to plant. After all it is already September!

No big plans for the weekend. Of course there is always laundry and such but may just kick back and watch some old movies. Works for me!
