It is cold again, 42 degrees right now.  :-(
I am happy about one thing though and that is that Daylight Savings isn't until March 10th.
So 10 more days before it is pitch dark again for my morning walks.  Yippee!  One of the people I walk with thought that it was this coming weekend.

My favorite day of the weekend, Friday is tomorrow.  I have some really pretty jewelry for my Paparazzi LIVE tomorrow night and that is something I'm looking forward to as well.

I have been watching this series on Netflix called The Magicians.  It is weird but interesting. I just started Season 2 and it is a little hard to follow at times but I'm going to keep watching.  I like a few of the characters too much. :)

Another hump day comes near an end.  It got warm today, I think up to the low 70's, but this morning it was real foggy during my walk.  It was so foggy it was a bit misty and I kept the hood of my coat up.  We took Tika for a short walk today and she did okay.  On Sunday she seemed to have a hard time with one of her back legs.  But I know it gets out of joint (for lack of a better word) sometimes. I tried massaging it for a bit and she seemed okay later (not just sitting down as soon as she started to walk).  So we didn't take her for a walk on Monday to give her leg (hip?) a break.   She is 12 and getting old.

I managed to hear a bit of Michael Cohen's testimony today.  Though he did a lot of wrong and illegal things, he is going to be paying for it by going to prison. He also lost his license to practice law and really to me looked defeated and humbled today.  There was a lot of angry ranting going on from those who think he was only going to lie again.  But to me, he had nothing to gain by not being truthful.  He was already losing pretty much everything.  Anyway I really did like how Eliajah Cummings, committee chairman, handled it.  After the testimony was over he spoke to the press and was very adamant that we have to get back to how things used to be (here in the U.S). This is not the exact quote I'm sure but he was so right about that.  There remains to be seen if anything comes of today's testimony.  It may get very interesting.

We are watching some Netflix stand up comedy...well hubby is. I am reading my book and trying not to listen to it  :-)   Back to it.

Today is one of those days when there really isn't a whole lot to blog about.  It got up to the low/mid 60's but it was cloudy or rainy a good part of the day.

I did find out from a neighbor that our old mailman is back!  Woo hoo!  He has been the nicest caring mailman we ever had.  I am so glad that he is back.  He had shoulder surgery and was out for several months and I wasn't really sure if he was coming back or if he just was going to retire early.
He's working up to full-time again, but I'm just glad he's back.  He always brought packages to the door (so that  he could hand them over to us to assure we got them) versus typical mailmen who stick packages on the door step (when someone may steal things).
And when hubby's back was bad he asked about him and was genuinely concerned about that.  Really nice public servants (which I consider our mailman one of), are rare to find these days.

Today I took a half day off to go to the dentist.  It was a cleaning appointment but I thought I was going to see my dentist too because I didn't see her last time nor the time before.  But nope.  My next appointment is in August and I asked if she was going to be there at that time because it will be 2 years since she's seen me.  They assured me she would be. Sheesh! I don't think that I have any cavities or anything like that but the dentist should see a patient once a year, don't you agree?

After the appointment I came back home to gather our stuff to go get our car titles in the Trust name. This was the last step to getting pretty much everything done that we needed to get done.  We ate at Jack in the Box before we went to the DMV.  There were 5 people in there and while I sat there waiting for our food to be ready, I saw 4 people on their cell phones and 1 person on a tablet.  Yup that's what the world has come to.  I smiled and just sat there looking around.  I am not one that pulls out the phone when I'm somewhere very much.  If there were 20 people in there, it would probably still be the same.

Tonight I caught Bella sitting next to me on video.  She does this often and just sits like a person next to me for a spell. It is so cute!

Well, I am writing this on yet another end of the weekend. But hey, at least I got my office all clean and relatively dog fur free for the moment.  I also posted all the pictures of the jewelry that I showed on my Friday night LIVE over on my jewelry BLOG

Rather than watch the Oscars I am watching Fantastic beasts and where to find them. It is supposed to be along the theme of the Harry Potter movies and I am enjoying it so far.  Great special effects!

Not much else to write about today.  Tomorrow I have a dentist appointment so I took a half day to run some errands after the appointment.  It is just a 6 month cleaning and not sure if I'll see the dentist but I'm not going to bother getting crown replacements for my front tooth (and one next to it) since I used the Invisalign, I don't think it looks that bad from the other front tooth. At least for right now.  I still wear my retainer every night like I should.  So as long as I do that I don't expect it to change and I can live with how they look now.

Off to get dessert.  Bye for now...

Today I had 8 out of 9 hours of activity (at least 250 steps) per my fitbit! :)  I don't get that very often at all.  But between my hair cut, doing some laundry and a deep clean of my office, I was very active.  See?  I took a picture of this past week too.  Sitting for my job doesn't help but yeah there is rarely a day that I have that many active hours.  So Go ME :)   .. Only have 5383 steps so far though but I'll take the activity kudos! LOL

Took a few before photos of my office which honestly I haven't cleaned since before the holidays and no I don't mean Valentine's Day either.  :)  But I got it looking pretty darn nice and tidied up too.  I should have taken a few pictures of the clutter on some things but I forgot.  I got 3 boxes of jewelry in drawers and other papers filed and things tossed or put in place.  So it looks very nice right now too.
BEFORE (I know Duh...)

BEFORE

AFTER..THIS HAD 3 BOXES OF PAPARAZZI AND OTHER PAPERS STACKED ON IT

AFTER. BOOK SHELVES ALL STRAIGHTENED OUT

AFTER. BUT I REALLY DON'T USE THE SINK MUCH

AFTER - GOT ALL THE DUST/DOG HAIR UNDER EVERYTHING!

AFTER. NO MORE TUMBLEWEEDS OF DUST/DOG HAIR

Well Friday yea!!!  I did my Paparazzi Live tonight and it went well.  Bella wanted to help me out so she was in it a lot. LOL.

I'm going to plan to clean my office this weekend. The floor is literally getting dust balls on it.  Oye!
It is always something isn't it?  I need to start thinking about working on the taxes too. I keep hearing how all the refunds are lower for those who usually get them so this should be fun.  I have more work this year with the business. It is a good thing I love to number crunch.

I have a hair appointment tomorrow which I am very happy about. I nearly took the scissors to my bangs a few times already recently.  But I restrained myself.  I didn't want to cut them all wrong or on an angle.

This morning it was foggy and misty out so it wasn't the most pleasant walk but it was a good one.  I got 11,261 steps in today, so I'm happy about that.  Pizza and beer for dinner too, LIVE done as I said and now I'm set to have a good rest of the weekend.

Today I took a few pictures while I was thinking of it.  Below is a video of our dandelions that are out back in full force that I mentioned in yesterday's post.

And here are some pictures of Bella and Ditzy and Bella laying on her sweater that she loves.  They are happily sharing the fainting couch that I think I got for them because I hardly ever get to sit on it!

Today started out cold.  It was only 37 degrees when I stepped out for my morning walk. The sky was grey this morning too so I couldn't see the 'super snow moon' that the weather man indicated we could see either last night or early this morning.

It did warm up to 63 degrees later on today though and it was sunny.  So this is likely how the weather will be the next few weeks, starting out cold and ending up in the 50's or 60's.

I meant to take a picture of the back yard today but I forgot.  There are quite a few dandelion stalks so I guess spring is definitely on the way.

The newspaper didn't come today so I guess it will take a little bit to get it. If I don't get the Sunday edition (which comes out Saturday), I'm going to call them on Monday and ask when it will start coming.  I can see it online too but I'd rather have a paper I can flip. Besides I read enough stuff online all day long.

Tomorrow is Friday 'eve.  This week is going by rather quickly. That's fine...just so it slows down when the weekend is here. :)

Today was in the 30's most of the day and rainy, yuck!  It rained quite hard at times too.  I think it is done at this point and hope tomorrow is rain free.

Bella decided she wanted to get up on my lap so I am dealing with her and my laptop trying to type.  It is so much fun have a dog that pesters to be in my lap.  LOL.  I have never owned a dog that wanted to be in my lap so much of the time.  It is actually quite heartwarming.  She loves to get under a throw on my lap too and sleeps like that for a while.

We got her a sweater a few months ago for when it is cold and she likes to lay next to it and sometimes sits up and looks at me and wags her tail until I put it on her.  But when it is on her she barely moves.  I tried taking her outside yesterday when I put it on to see if she'd go potty out there with her warm sweater on.   She just stood there like a statue.  Oh well.  At least she will let me put it on her.

In a few weeks I'll be washing it to put away until next winter. Here is a picture of her on my lap (the throw was not on my lap yet for this picture).

Post 49 (b) 2019

Okay my first post was a social media ad for the company I work for.  It is a good deal for anyone (in the US) who are refinancing or buying a home.  So please check it out.

Today was my walk day and I am happy to say that I have 11,043 steps so far today, so well above the 10,000 steps goal for today. Yeah!

I had to work today even though I work for a mortgage company but it wasn't a bad day at all.
And winter is back today.  Tomorrow's high is 43 degrees and is supposed to rain. I am really glad that it is not one of my walk days.

There has been a lot of stuff going on in our city these days with a Mayor who has more self-interest than the interests of the citizens who voted him in.  Remind you of anyone else?  Anyway, although I had not been a subscriber to our local paper, I decided to subscribe again to stay informed about things. Our town is going through a continuous growth spurt and what was once a town of about maybe 35,000-40,000 people when we moved here nearly 14 years ago, has now over 70,000 people.  Oye!

Blog # 48 2019

Today I worked a few hours this morning.  I took a look at the oven before I got my shower and decided I just cannot put off cleaning it any more.  The burnt smell that takes over the kitchen whenever anything is cooking in the oven is driving me nuts and since I didn't have any other plans today besides laundry, I decided I'd tackle it after my shower.

I think I should have waited on the shower as it was a bit of a work out trying to get it clean. I used a cleaning paste I got from my Norwex friend and a special scrubbing sponge.  It worked fairly well but didn't get everything off.

I tried a magic eraser and a little bit of Dawn dish washing liquid to try to get the glass door cleaner. That worked pretty well so that I can at least see what is in the oven now when something is cooking.

So anywhere here are the before and after pictures.   Keep in mind that this is the original oven and this house was built in 1982 so it is quite likely it is going on 37 years old.  It still works great except for the occasional timer buzzing at random times.  It just goes off and sometimes it is hard to turn it off.
But the way things are made so cheaply these days I'm hoping our oven working for as long as we live here.  :-)

Blog #47 2019

Today I had lunch at a fairly new restaurant in town.  I think it has been in town for just about a year. I have in the past really enjoyed the meals I have gotten.  I met my Empty Nester's women's lunch group there for a change of pace.  There were 5 of us all together.  I got the tortilla soup which I'm sure was made as it should be.  I didn't recall if I liked it or not but I didn't really care for it a whole lot. It was just okay.  I won't get that again (probably anywhere).  It was nice catching up with the gals though.  One of them travels quite a bit to foreign countries.  I really have no desire to travel and such but feel a bit embarrassed that I don't.  One gal spent Valentine's with her hubby down in San Antonio and I mentioned I haven't been there.  I really don't mind that I haven't. She told me I really need to get out more. Ha-ha.  I think I will just listen to others when they bring up travels or places they visited and not bring up that I haven't been.
Ours is a simple life and we have 3 dogs (and that is the lowest number we've had for years), so we just don't get the travel bug, ever.  When I retire I would love to go on some road trips but we'll just stay at places that will allow a dog or two.

This evening hubby made a wonderful surprise dinner for me.  It was split lobster tail, with white cheddar macaroni & cheese and stuffed mushrooms.  It was wonderful!  Did I take pictures?  YES!

Lobster ...yum!!

Blog #46 2019

Today was a gorgeous day outside!  It got to the upper 80's!  Too bad it was difficult to get the warmth to come into the house.  I opened up things today and it still wasn't getting warmer than 72 degrees inside.  I opened the door to the back patio and held the door open for a little bit.  It was like we had the air conditioning on in the house with the feel of the cool air leaving.  But at least it got a little bit warmer up to a whopping 74 degrees.  Today was a fluke, teaser day.  It won't get this warm again for a little while.

I did my Paparazzi LIVE this evening. I featured rings.  I have lots of pretty rings to offer.  It would be nice to get more folks to watch my lives but it is what it is.  I will keep doing them until I don't.  I do not like to spin my wheels and sometimes that is what I think I am doing,  I'm not against doing vendor shows but I don't want to have to buy a tent, weights, fire extinguisher, etc., to participate in one outdoors.  There also seem to be enough reps around here that some events already have a Paparazzi rep and there can only be one per event so...we'll see.  I was hoping I could build this up to bring in some extra money so that by the time I retired from my day job, I'd have some supplemental income.  Just not sure if this is the path I am supposed to take as it may lead to a dead end.

I really do love the jewelry and I guess I'm surprised sometimes how everyone else doesn't think it is beautiful, affordable jewelry.  But many don't.  I guess a lot of people can take it or leave it.  But I just see how well it makes an outfit look put together or how it makes me look prettier.  So...again I don't get how others don't just love it!  So anyway I'll just shut up about that now and stop talking about my frustration.

Tomorrow is the ladies lunch club and that always lifts my spirits.  Looking forward to that and a relaxing weekend.

Blog #45 2019

Today is Valentine's Day and we have some great leftovers from dinner last night for dinner and no crowds, no rushing!  Wonderful ! :)

It got up to about 70 degrees outside today but it was one of those times when the house still felt cool.  It takes several warm days in a row to make it actually feel warm in the house too.  Even though we did have the heat on I ended up putting leg warmers on.  Oh well.

Tomorrow it is supposed to be warmer yet. We'll see.

Nothing much else to blog about today, but hey I warned ya'll that there may be days like this.
So happy tomorrow is Friday !!

Blog # 44 2019

This evening I had a great idea to go to dinner tonight instead of tomorrow for Valentine's Day. It was the best idea ever!   We left right after I got done work so it was early but I was so happy to be seated right away.  We had a nice leisurely dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse and there are plenty of leftovers for tomorrow!

When we left there were a lot of birds hanging on the lights and also flying all around them.  They were following each other in flight and were really cool to watch.  I took  a short video below.

It was very COLD this morning on my walk.  It was only 29 degrees out which is cold around here and I only wore regular (light) leggings and not a sweater under my coat so yes I was pretty cold this morning.  It took me a while to thaw out when I got back but I am fine.  I am hoping that is the last really cold morning this winter!

Blog #43 2019

Today I had an appointment with the dermatologist for my 6 month skin check.  I have to admit I was a little concerned about an area on one of my big toes.  I know I had stubbed it on a step in December and didn't think much of it but there is some discoloring like a wide line and a small dot and so of course I get to thinking about skin cancer.  I looked it up online and luckily most of the evidence I saw involved vertical lines not horizontal and way darker than what my toe looked like.

So anyway I went to my appointment and she was checking things out and she got to my legs and I showed her my toe.   She was not at all concerned about it and said it looked like it had gotten bruised and it was nothing to be concerned about.  Phew was I glad to hear that. :)

Any no I am not a hypochondriac!  I have had basal cell carcinoma and have had several suspicious moles removed which turned out to be abnormal.  Nothing major there but as I said it isn't like I haven't had skin issues already.

I got an all clear this time around.  I was happy about that!  I don't go back until August.

I was a bit surprised about my insurance.  We changed to a lesser priced coverage for health insurance this year but the only reason I did that (went from 'Gold' to 'Silver') coverage was because if we kept the Gold coverage we had to stay inside network no matter what (or chance not being covered if went to someone outside of the network) . I wasn't going to take that chance since we don't even have a family doctor currently.  I can't be limited not knowing what the future holds.

Normally when I go to the dermatologist it is a $40 co-pay and the rest is covered. Not this time. I had to pay the whole $110 something to go towards a deductible.  Ugh.  The only plus side to it though is that I did opt for a health savings account this year that helps with costs not covered so I was able to use that.  It is pre-tax dollars taken from my pay so there is a tax advantage to it.

I got up 30 minutes earlier today so I could get my exercise in before my appointment as it was early. But now I'm getting tired already. LOL.

Blog #42 2019

Today was yet another yucky, rainy day.  It is supposed to be sunny tomorrow. finally.  It has been cloudy, drizzly, gray and or rainy or sleeting for about 2 weeks now.  Oye!  Did I mention that my mood is affected by the weather.  I am way more happy when it is sunny out.

This evening I ate at a nice restaurant with my younger sister.  It was nice getting together.  We hadn't seen each other since Christmas.  I was supposed to take a few bracelets with me that she may want to purchase but I forgot to take them.  Dinner was great as it always is there even though it is a bit pricey it is always good.  I had Macadamia Crusted Jumbo Shrimp.  It was really good and I brought leftovers home to have for lunch tomorrow.

I was happy that I was able to get a full tank of gas for only $20!  This is the first time I bought gas this year and so I wasn't sure if it would fill the tank or not but it did.

Blog # 41 2019

Today I cleaned 4 toilets..that's enough isn't it?  :)
I also did a load of laundry which is still in the dryer and long ago dried.

We watched a few movies on Netflix that I thought were weird.  I looked up the
top movies on Netflix but I guess my tastes are different than other peers these days.
I thought they'd be good after reading what they were about but meh.
They were Gabriel's Game and The Ritual.  I wouldn't recommend them unless
you are very bored!!

Bella got a bath today and hubby took a video so I thought I'd share.  Tomorrow is Monday, already! :-)

Blog #39 2019

I remembered last night after I had already shut everything down that I didn't blog...so I am doing it first thing this morning.  I got my coffee in hand.

It was very cold yesterday and still is today and we have had some hail, sleet and graupel at times with rain.  Last night in the news, there was mention of a 10 car accident not far from here and this morning on the highway there was another 10 car accident that closed down I-45. It may still be closed.  They don't treat roads here as they do back in the northeast for ice/snow and also people do not have much, if any experience driving in this weather either.   I am not going anywhere today!

Yesterday morning the wind chill was 20 something but I still headed out around 6AM for my walk.  My walking partner was not waiting for me so I started to walk down toward her house and was practically at the cross street.  That was enough for me to assume she wasn't going to walk in those kinds of temperatures but I was already out there, in the dark with my failing flash light. LOL.  So I decided to walk anyway though I didn't take the exact same route.  I stuck around to the better lit roads and did walk some streets that we often walk to see if perhaps I might meet her coming back the other way.  I knew I left the house a few minutes later because I was layering more clothes than usual and so she may have gone ahead.  But I never found her.

I didn't feel all that cold but it was likely due to being on a mission to see if my friend was out there somewhere. :)   When I got home, hubby and I got Ditzy ready for her walk and went outside and another person that I was sort of keeping an eye out for thought that I was just headed out for the first time.  I told him I had already walked as well but no Jean.  He did tell me she had told him Thursday that she may not walk yesterday. I just wish she would have called me Thursday evening to tell me.  I would have still walked but would have headed out later when it wasn't so dark.  I will be glad when it is much lighter early in the morning. On a good note at the end of the day I was at 12196 steps on my fitbit.

When I was looking out back at the rain/sleet yesterday I saw something that struck me as funny. It looks like our frog is smiling after defeating our dog in a wrestling match ;)

I'll blog this evening although it may be a boring post...looks like just a lounging, watching TV kind of day.

Blog #38 2019

Today started out at 72 degrees and then dropped like crazy.  It is only 42 degrees right now and it may get to freezing or just below by morning.  BBBBbbbrrrrrrr.  It is going to be very cold tomorrow.  But at least it is Friday.  Woo hoo!

Looking ahead after this cold spell it should be at least in the 50s if not higher after the weekend.
That would be nice if spring is really around the corner.

The sunset is nice this evening.  I took a few pictures though they were a bit more vivid than how they turned out on the camera.

Blog #37 2019

Hump day is over.  It was a long but productive work day.  I almost forgot to blog because after work I was watching Chicago Med and now I'm watching Netflix.  And my brain is shutting off for the night too.

It was warm today again which was very nice, but tomorrow that is suppose to go down hill.  Winter will come back, but hopefully not for long.

This is going to be a short one.  Hope all is well with those who read this.

Blog #36 2019

This evening for supper we had breakfast which is always fun to have.  Here are a few pictures of it cooking and of the dogs all waiting for it to be done so they can get a nibble.  Bella is already looking at the floor for some. That was optimistic thinking!   French toast and sausage. Yum   :)

Tomorrow is hump day :)  It got up in the 70's today again.  The house is still cooler than it is outside though. I had a nice dress on today to celebrate the warm day but ended up putting a sweater on mid morning.

Blog #35 2019

Today was like spring outside.  It got up to the mid 70's.  It won't stay this way but it was a nice balmy walk this morning and the day got nicer as it went on.  Even though I had to work, I took a few moments to look outside and step outside during lunch for a few breaths of fresh air.

I was not impressed with the Super Bowl last night.  I mean it could have all been just the last 7 minutes of the game.  There were only a few commercials that I thought were half way decent too.  Oh well. I guess the expectations are high but that is because there have been better football games and commercials in the past.  The half time show was just okay.  Hubby fell asleep during the 3rd quarter. That's how exciting it was.

Oh well. There's always next year right?  At least there was a good line up of shows this evening that I like to watch.

Tomorrow it is supposed to be another warm one.  I'm looking forward to it!

Blog #34 2019

I'm watching Superbowl LIII on TV.  I don't really care who wins though I suppose I'd like the Rams to win as they are the underdog.  But I'm watching it for the commercials.  I haven't seen any yet that I think are funny or clever but we're only 25 minutes into the game.

I am always looking for ways to be healthy.  Sometimes when I drink milk I may feel bloated or a little uncomfortable and I have wondered if I may be slightly lactose intolerant but I don't know for sure. I decided to give Almond Milk a try as that is a healthy alternative.  But I also heard or read, to be careful with Almond milk as it may contain  lot of sugar. So I opened the fridge and compared my almond milk to hubby's 1% milk.

The picture on the left is his 1% Milk. The right is my Almond milk. Only 8 grams of Sugar!!
Milk has 12 grams of sugar!  Now I will admit that the milk has no added sugar and the Almond includes 7 g added sugars but bottom line as far as I am concerned is that it is still 8g vs 12 g of sugar in 1 cup of 1% milk.  I'm not going to go down each item either.... my point was the sugar comparison does not reveal more sugar in what I chose to drink. Also 60 calories vs 100 calories and 45% calcium vs 25%.   I'm sticking with almond milk.

Blog #33 2019

This picture turned up on my Facebook page today as a memory from 5 years ago.  This was a tough one to look at. All 3 dogs in the right column have already crossed over the bridge...but hopefully I'll see them one day in heaven.

Today I went to lunch with the empty nesters club I started.  There is a very nice core of gals from 6-8 of us that go to nearly every lunch.  There are several that 'joined' that have not even come to one lunch yet.  I really don't know what the point is for some to join in order to make friends only to never show up.  Oh well. I am glad for the friends I have made.  It was a very nice time today and we were there over 2 hours!  That's when you know you have friends....when none of us want to leave right after the check is paid.

Blog # 32 2019

I got through my work day, had my pizza and beer and did my Paparazzi Live this evening.  I was chatting with my youngest and remembered that I had not blogged yet.  My youngest got married in November and they are thinking about starting to look for a house in the next few months.  I'm going to help them all I can with their mortgage process since that is what I do.   I hope they can find something decent that is affordable.  I know house prices are going up and it is getting harder and harder to find houses in decent areas that aren't so expensive that both people have to work non-stop in order to afford them.

It is February already! :)  I am pretty used to writing 2019 by now.  Tomorrow is the ladies lunch group which is something I always look forward to.  The 3rd Saturday of each month we're going to try eating at different places.  Hopefully that will not be too much of a pain.  I need to call some places this week to see if they will do separate checks and if they take reservations.  The Mexican restaurant we meet at is never that busy so it is never a problem getting a table and they know us by now and the separate checks are the norm with my group.  But there are some eateries that have quite a waiting line at times.

We have started watching Frontier on Netfix. It has Jason Mamoa in it and I'm enjoying it.  We saw him in Aquaman and he really played that part well.  So when I saw he was in this series, I thought it'd be worth watching.  I think there are 3 seasons.  We have only seen 4 episodes so far and I'm glad we started watching it.
