Kaci

Remember I said one of our dogs was not feeling well?  Well we took her to the vet today and she was way worse than I thought. She wasn't really throwing up daily anymore she was eating some (not totally refusing food altogether). Turns out she is going through severe liver and kidney failure.  The vet did not know if it was acute or cronic but it was bad enough she said if we took her to an animal hospital she only gave her 30% chance of getting better. I know that is better than nothing but it would also cost thousand(s) until they got a full diagnosis which would likely not be good.

They hydrated her for us and we took her home because we think it is just her time. It is a tough decision to make but anyway we are giving her lots of love and attention (and table meat) which she has been scarfing up, as tomorrow we'll call the vet to see when we can bring her in and say goodbye to her. 

She would have been 11 years old come December 28th.  May not seem old to some, but I've never had a dog live to be quite 10, so 11 is a good life in my opinion.  We love her and will miss her!  I'm off to spend a few hours with her...

Yesterday's moon pictures

These were actually taken yesterday morning. I was up at 6:30AM to take my walk and noticed the moon still really huge!  I took a fast walk and the moon was still out so when I walked Tika I took the camera with me.  I had to keep my foot on the leash to keep her still enough to take the pictures. :)

Bathroom is nearly done except for the vanity. Will take some pictures the end of the day tomorrow.

Monday catching up

Yesterday was a relaxing day, well after I exercised.  The owner of the construction company came and worked on the bathroom also!  He has come few other Sundays as well. That is impressive to me! 

Stac and I made chocolate chip cookies yesterday afternoon.  I gave 3 to the guy working on the bathroom since he was so nice about coming on Sunday. 

This morning I took a few pictures of the moon but they are on my other computer so I'll have to post them tomorrow.

In the meantime though I can post pictures of the bathroom. The tile is nearly done.  The toilet is partially in. Would you believe the seat is not included?  I didn't even notice that but when I located the one we got and looked at the details it does not include a seat. Hubby is going to go get one tomorrow morning.  I'm cautiously optimistic about the vanity that may arrive as early as Saturday.  I am hoping the same exact box doesn't arrive!  Doubtful I hope! :)  We don't know exactly what is happening to the one we refused to take. Hopefully it is on its way back to Wayfair and they can send it back to the manufacturer.

Work was fine today.  It was nice having the weekend off, so that I could handle everything my way without feeling a ton of stress. That was nice. :-)

Got my chunks

Well I probably should have taken before pics but here are a few after pics.  I got my blond chunks today she actually called pieces to mean the same thing.  But anyway it is a little tussled so the exact lines of the chunks are not really evident in these pictures but I'm happy with them. 

The youngest is here visiting for the weekend too so we went down to the square for a little shopping then hubby, her and I went out to dinner for the birthdays and our wedding anniversary celebration. Would have been really complete if the oldest were here too.  ;-)

It was a good day and oh I didn't mention I actually slept in today until 8:17AM. For me that is great!

Finally Friday

Yay!  Friday is here and I am not working this weekend!  It has been a long, frustrating week. I just poured myself a tiny (yes this is a cute little glass) bit of blackberry brandy.  Welcome to a relaxing weekend!

I finally stopped stressing about the vanity yesterday and we ordered another one from Lowes to be delivered and taken upstairs (after the box is opened).  It may not come until October 3rd or a few days after that but I'm hoping, no I'm praying that this time it goes smoothly.  I hope the vanity is not damaged and that they get it upstairs okay.

Here are some updated pictures of the bathroom. The tiling is almost done.  After that the toilet will go in and the fixtures will go up that we have.  The vanity and back splash for it (glass tile that see in tub area) will go in when it gets here. 

It is a little hard to see but this is our new light too. Here is a close up of the light.

 It is looking very nice I think!  Tomorrow I am getting a few blond chunks put in my hair so hope that goes well.  Well the news is coming on so I'm going to post this and get ready to hit the sack.

Vanity woes

Vanity arrived today.  .Here was the box. Yup it was broken (cabinet back was pushed in). The wood was broken.

We refused to accept it. They took it back and hubby got on phone with both transport company and Wayfair.  End result?  Refund!  Thank God!  I'm really tired so will write more tomorrow. Promise!

Good nite or morning?

It is late.  Need to hit the sack. Just finished work.

Oh...need to say STILL no Vanity!  Now tomorrow mid morning.
We'll see!

Saga continues...

So this morning I called Wayfair at about 8:15AM to see if they could get through to the transport company which keep in mind is only AUSTIN which is only about an hour from here!!  They are the ones after all that I purchased the vanity from and as far as I'm concerned their reputation is getting tarnished as well.

The gal I spoke to was nice and said she'd get in touch with them and email me when has status of my delivery.  Well got to be 3:00PM and NOTHING again. So I called Wayfair again. Pretty much told the gal there (different one) that although she was nice and I didn't blame her personally, I will never ever buy from Wayfair again!  This has stressed me out so much wondering when or even if we'd get the vanity for our bathroom!! She said they were awaiting the transport company to contact actually me to confirm when would deliver and they they would confirm with me. Clearly the biggest issue is the local transport company but they are working on behalf of Wayfair so all the same to me. She said they should have confirmation within 24 hours. Seriously? Another 24 hours?? As my anger escalated I did hang up on her (well I told her I have to hang up as I couldn't talk anymore) and I slammed the phone down.

Got a call finally around 4PM from the transport place to expect deliver tomorrow and they gave me the 4 hour window once again. I asked if it was really going to be delivered and she said yes.  We are going to make them wait until we've checked it over to see if there is any damage. Fingers crossed it comes and that it is perfectly fine!

Where or where?

Is our Vanity?  Ugh!  We were supposed to get it delivered today between 11 and 3, and nothing.  I ended up calling. They were going to call me back when they contacted the driver. Nothing..so I called before 5:00PM.  They said my Vanity did not make it on the truck.  The reason? They can't find it. Wonderful!  I'm using a special service because they will take it upstairs for an extra charge.  The vanity is just over 300 lbs so it was important to not have to get it upstairs ourselves. They never called back tonight and they claim to be open 24/7.  Right.

I guess I'll start calling them tomorrow until I get to talk to a supervisor and find out what is going on. I don't want it lost or damaged.  The guys will be ready for it in a few days too.  So fingers crossed we get some good news tomorrow.

Well another Monday is nearly over.  I'll be putting a full week of work in this week so it will probably feel like a long week. Oye!

Sprinklers

The guy working on our bathrooms fixed my mom's sprinklers today. He did a good job and for once we ran them this evening while over there making her dinner.  I'm sure the grass was very grateful!  LOL.  Hubby also helped with her getting a new garage door for her house and so that has been done too.  She keeps the car in the garage now so a new garage door was needed as the cracks in the other one kept getting bigger. We were getting worried the door might break and fall on the car one of the times when pulling it out to take mom to an appointment.

I worked today but only about a half a day.  That was fine with me. Was able to relax and watch some movies on TV.  Tonight there is a new Ice Road Truckers on, so going to go watch it. 

Tomorrow more bathroom progress (hopefully). :)

Did you know?

I meant to mention yesterday when I was posting about the shopping at Home Depot,...did you know that if you open a credit card with them, you are entitled to a 5% discount with every purchase you pay for with your HD credit card?  Yes that is absolutely great and one of the reason I went ahead with a charge card.  What is interesting and what you may not know is that you have to ASK for the discount each time you use the card. If you don't ask, you don't get the discount.  I think that is totally wrong but I have been diligent with asking for the discount every time! 

Today we went to an antique shop to look for any more things we could find for the bathroom. I actually spotted some leaded windows that were more narrow than the ones we got yesterday and one of those would look better than the others above the toilet. We may use the ones we got yesterday somewhere else in the house.  ;-)  We looked online at paint samples and while originally looking a taupe, we're leaning more toward a light gray now to go better with the color scheme.  Not a harsh, dark gray but a more soft gray.  We'll need to get some paint samples to look at and pick from.

It was a nice and relaxing day although I did work on the closet some changing out the wire and plastic hangers with some that are anti-slip (have velvet like feel to them). They are so much nicer but also slimmer than the bigger plastic ones and better than the skinny wire ones. All the clothes have been changed out.

So now I can get more clothes! :)  Just kidding...or am I?  

I am looking forward to a new season of TV starting up.  Well off to watch Pit Bulls & Parolees.

Great day!

Started out with a nice walk with hubby whom I had get me up a little later than normal so that I could sleep in a bit more.  I didn't bother walking Tika (since it is my day off took a break from the extra walk).

Then the guys came to work on the bathroom. They put some sealer stuff on the walls of the bathtub area (looks very blue). ;-)  They weren't here very long.  Then I went with hub to get some furniture he was interested in.  After that we were on the hunt  for the rest of the goodies for our bathroom.  On ward to Home Depot. 

We found some nice wood look tile for the floor and some decorative (not quite marbled) looking tile for the bath tub area and nice glass tile for the accent areas.  We are having two nooks (inserts) put in for the tub area to hold shampoos and soap and the glass time is going in there and then probably an accent strip as well.

Also got a towel rack and a faucet set (didn't take pictures of those).

After getting done with that we had a nice lunch out at La Playa. We hadn't eaten there in a while and it was nice to have freshly made Mexican food again.  I got veggie fajitas and a frozen margarita. Yum!

We want to put some different things on the walls.  Hubby is going to try to find a fancy old drawer from a dresser that I can chalk paint and add shelves to to use for a few things. The vanity will have some storage underneath for things like toilet paper and such. The drawer will be hopefully big enough to lay some towels on for use (rolled up if need be).

We went to a few antique stores and found some really neat things for the walls.  There are two leaded windows. One will go above the toilet,

not sure where the other will go. I'm going to paint the leaded windows before hanging them up.  The other wall hanging was likely a pie safe door at one time.  It was replaced with tin on either side and a mirror in the middle.  It is a pretty good size (hard to tell from the picture).

It is exciting and we had fun today!

Today was my birthday and I just now remembered about my blog. So I'm not writing anything much as I'm headed to bed and it is my birthday at least for another hour so I'm going to do what I want. LOL.. Nite :)

Bathroom update

Here's the newest pictures so far. The popcorn ceiling is gone, the bathtub is in place, the little shelf at the foot of the tub has been built, the wall next the water heater up. They've been working hard and making a lot of noise.  We've got to pick out the rest of the fun stuff soon: tile, flooring, cabinet, etc.

Oops..

I just realized earlier today that I didn't blog yesterday.  It was a busy day.  Back to work after a long weekend off (I took Friday off) and didn't work all weekend. It was tough getting my brain to work again. But once I got it working, there was lots to do. Also got my car to the shop to get inspected.  I need to contact them tomorrow as they never did call me today to let me know that it was ready.

Then I went to make my mom dinner last night and went back to work so yah, that is what happened to the day.  I forgot to take any pictures and I'm too tired to run and take some now.  I will say the bathroom is coming along.  The dry wall is up including the wall that separates the water heater area from the rest of the bathroom and the plumbing and electrical is mostly done.  The bath tub is sitting where it is going to go.  We opted for just a 5 foot tub as a 6 foot long one would be too wide and too close to the toilet.  It is a major thing to move the toilet pipes so we just went with same size tub. Got a white one which is good as it will go with any tile we pick.

The last few days one of the fur kids Kaci has been getting sick but only at night (at least as far as we could tell). But last night she kept getting sick until she had nothing but spit left. So today we decided to just give her a scrambled egg.  I thought she would scarf it up but she actually didn't want it at all.  So hubby cooked up some rice to give her some rice and a tiny bit of the wet dog food later on. That was actually funny to watch.  She would pick through the rice, spitting it out on the rug for the little bit of dog food. 

Then for dinner we just gave her a few spoonfuls of the wet dog food.  She hasn't gotten sick (unless it was outside when we weren't looking), so hopefully she is on the mends and her stomach is better. She was not as active today as she usually is, but she wasn't totally lethargic either so here's hoping tomorrow she'll be better. We'll likely just give her the wet dog food again.

My office

I finished organizing and cleaning my office this morning-afternoon.  I should have taken some before pictures but it just didn't occur to me.  There were CDs, piled up several places, the wooden file holder was stacked about 2 1/2 feet high with papers, the dog's beds which I guess I didn't point down far enough in the photos, were pretty full of dog hair (and there are 4 of them in the office of various sizes).  So anyway here are pics of my office after all my hard work.  I'm very happy with it and plan to at least keep up with the paperwork so that it doesn't get out of hand.  I had some papers from early 2014 in there! LOL

Oh...and I did get the cookies made too!  Yum!  Nope, not going to tell how many I've had today already. "-)

Visit

Today we went to visit the youngest and her boyfriend. We walked around the square in town.  There were a few vintage shops and one antique shop.  I got mom 3 women's handkerchiefs as some of hers are looking pretty threadbare. They each had a little floral design at one corner.  She appreciated them when I took them over with dinner this evening.

We had a good time walking around and shopping with Stac.  Then we went back to her place and picked up her boyfriend to get dinner at her choice of restaurant which was Outback.  It had been a long time since we had eaten at one.

Got back to get mom dinner and then came home to relax. Tomorrow the plan is to finish up cleaning my office and bake chocolate chip cookies (for my reward).  :-)

No bathroom work being done this weekend.

Evening post

Today I had off as I mentioned yesterday.  However did I relax? NOPE!

We took the dogs to get groomed this morning then I ran a poop sample up to the vet for Ditzy (follow up to her exam, we didn't have a stool sample for the appointment). Then,  when I got back I dug in to cleaning up the office.  There were lots of papers to go through, shelves to clean, stuff to toss, music Cd's to get in order and put in place (hubby helped me with that), dog beds to clean, floor to clean. I got it a lot cleaner than it was.  There are still two piles of papers to go through but the rest is pretty much done.  I worked until we picked up the dogs at 4:00PM and then for another hour or so after that.  So it wasn't really a relaxing day off.

But that's okay because there were papers in the stacks that were from 2014!  Yup it was that bad. LOL. Oh I didn't take any pics of the bathroom today.  They did work on some electrical and plumbing but it isn't real noticeable (at least not to me) so I'll take more pics when there is more of a difference. :)

I'm not working all weekend either so that will be nice for a change and I will get to relax some then.  I plan to make chocolate chip cookies Sunday.  Yum. 

Well I'm ending this here and going to yes, RELAX for a little bit before hitting the sack.

My Thursday Friday

It is my Friday today as I have off tomorrow. Woo hoo! So I'm calling it my Thursday Friday.  :-)
I just need a little break from work.  It is also my youngest's birthday day tomorrow.  Will be seeing her this weekend to celebrate!

There was some work done on the bathroom. I'm not sure exactly what was done other than the studs for the new back wall by the water heater and the old flooring is all out. Lookin' good!  Only a few pictures.

I had an appointment today with an orthodontist. She is very nice. I am going to get the 'Invisalign' braces to straighten my teeth out so that I can get a new crown in the front and have straight teeth again too.  Today was xrays, photos and a digital mold. Instead of the goopy mold that I clamp down on, they took a digital of each tooth, each angle and it forms a picture of the upper and lower teeth just like a mold.  Technology! It wasn't real pleasant as a few of the pictures they had to take were way in the back of my mouth and I kept either fighting the little wand that took the digital images with my tongue or gagging (choking back a cough)! I was beginning to wish for the goopy mold instead!  The estimated time for this whole thing is 18 months but I think it will be worth it.  Thankfully I don't chew gum anymore because I know I wouldn't be able to chew with those things in and that would suck!

I did get up enough courage to give the first gal I was talking with about the treatment/payment one of my Paparazzi business cards. Go me!  I don't know if she will check it out but I gave her a few for any other gals in there that might want one.  There are at least 3-4 assistants to the orthodontist in there plus one in the front office and the gal I spoke to.

Late night

Long work day today and also went over to make mom dinner.  Thank God that it rained really hard for at least 30 minutes tonight as I could not get the hose to stop squirting all over then becoming detached.  I didn't bother trying to water her lawn then and saw the clouds and so my prayer was answered. :0)

More demo today.  Tub removed, cabinet and the empty space above it removed.  Only took a few pictures.

End of Day 1 demolition

The guys got a lot done today.  They opened up the wall where the hot water heater is as they are extending the bathtub around by a foot and we are getting a 6' tub put in as opposed to a 5'.  Huge wrap around vanity, GONE.  Vanity, GONE. Mirror GONE, part of the vinyl flooring, GONE.
