Blog #31 2019

Tomorrow is Friday.  Doing a happy dance.  Yippee~ !  It is hard to believe it is going to be February already!  I am looking forward to it getting lighter earlier and earlier.  It should be getting warmer soon too here.  It really does depend and it can get warm and cold again but still I can tell spring is around the corner.  I notice it in the morning when I hear all the birds chirping when I walk.

Today went by fairly quickly and there is nothing else to really say about today. So this will be a short blog, but hey I promised to write every day, even if there was nothing much to write.  :-)

Blog #30 2019

I forgot to mention yesterday that it was my oldest daughter's birthday. She turned 31 and it is hard for me to believe how time flies.  Seems like just yesterday she was getting on the bus to go to Kindergarten.

Today our oldest dog turned 12 years old!  Happy birthday Tika~!   Tika is my shadow and I'm glad she is healthy.   She is the last sheltie that we own.

I have owned one or more shelties for about 34 years now!  But about 7 years ago we got a dog that was advertised on craigslist as a sheltie but is actually a papillon.  Now we have two. So I think we are sticking to that breed.  Although I have loved having shelties they are very furry, even moreso than papillons and they bark a lot!  And a few we've had have been really destructive. Our wood plantation blinds in the living room and dining room have teeth marks and deep scratches in several of them.  Papillons are furry too but not as thick as the shelties and smaller (so less fur too).

Ditzy, our first papillon will be about 9 years old in June too.  She was always the baby.  We got her when she was about a year and a half so we don't really know her exact age. She was the craigslist dog.  She is the best dog!  She just loves to play and doesn't bark a lot or get into trouble.  The new papillon we got does bark a lot when anyone comes to the house.  She was not socialized at all before we got her so that didn't help.  But otherwise she is adorable.

It was a busy work day which is fine with me as it makes the day go faster.  Tomorrow is Friday eve'.  Yes!

Blog #29 2019

Today was not one of my better work days.  I cannot get into it but sometimes decisions get made that are inaccurate and difficult to accept.  But that is the way of the world sometimes.  Tomorrow is another day right?  Time to shake it off and look forward to hump day.

It is supposed to get pretty warm on the 1st and for a few days after that.  It may get up to 75 degrees
I bet the folks in Minnesota don't want to hear it. They are expecting temperatures I believe somewhere around minus 30 something degrees tomorrow.. brrrrrr

That reminds me of a few times in college when they actually closed the campus down due to a deep freeze, twice in the 4 years I attended.  I recall going outside and exhaling through my nose and the air freezing around the edges of my nostrils.  And forget a runny nose.  It would freeze instantly.  And my eyes, I remember my eyes stinging and my eyelids getting frosty.  The snow had a hollow crunch to it too.  That is what I remembered most. I didn't stay out in it long but I feel for all those people who are going to have to deal with even colder than that.

All this talk about deep freezes...think I'll go make some tea.

Blog #28 2019

Today was a good Monday.  No major events or issues.  I'm sure glad I don't live in the Northern states since the wind chills are expected to get well below 0 degrees in several of the states in the next few days.

I was looking through my desk the other day, straightening things but also looking for the gift cards which I found and used on Saturday. Anyway about a year ago I had an abscessed tooth and I went to an oral surgeon who performed root canal right through a crowned tooth (the abscess was under the tooth beneath the crown).  After the appointment the doctor wanted a follow up a appointment a year later to check on it and make sure the abscess was gone.  I got an appointment card and sort of remembered I had an appointment coming up sometime this month.

Well you guessed it.  I found my appointment card and I missed it. It was for Jan 22nd.  I really thought their office would call and remind me of the appointment.  I guess I'm spoiled as my regular dentist office calls before my appointments.  I even get email reminders for my hair appointments.   But an appointment that was made for a YEAR later... no call? I didn't do anything about it.  I have been trying to find any information as to whether going back a year later is really necessary.  I have no symptoms any more and that crown is still there, etc., so I am not sure I really need to go back.  I would think if it didn't get all taken care of with the root canal, it would have presented some symptoms of returning long before a year later.

I have my regular dentist appointment next month so I think I'll wait until then and ask her if I really need to go back to that other oral surgeon at this point?  I figure one extra month isn't going to matter since it has already been a year.  ;-0)

Blog #27 2019

Today was laundry day.  I got 3 loads done.  There is more to do but I hang up all my cold water wash Lularoe on racks to dry and they are full.  But I made a good dent in it so I'm happy enough about that.

Not a whole lot else to say about today.  It was a relaxing Sunday and I got some reading in, the dishes done, and watched some TV.  We've been watching Arrow on Netflix.  We are in Season 6, episode 19 or something like that.  It is pretty good, but some of the episodes have a bit too many fight scenes for me.  It is entertaining enough though and I am very glad that we got Netflix.

It felt like Saturday for some reason but alas, tomorrow is indeed Monday.

Blog #26 2019

Today was a productive day!  I got over 8 hours sleep to begin with so that was productive in the sleep department :)

Hubby got some grocery shopping early in the morning.  After breakfast and getting dressed for the day we went to the bank and I closed a few very small accounts which didn't have much purpose any longer.  No need to have a bunch of accounts not being used left open.  One was an account I had with my mom and left open just to handle liquidating one dangling stock that was taken care of last fall.  So I was glad to have finally closed those accounts.

Then we went to the jewelry store and got hubby's wedding ring. The gentleman said now that we bought a replacement for him, he'll find his original one.  I would love for him find his original ring as it matches mine and it has a lot more sentimental value.  So that ring is welcomed to show up. :)  Here is a picture of his new one.  I think it is very nice!
After that we went to a very huge wine store called Total Wine.  I had gotten a gift card from work in the amount of $50 for that store. The closest location was about 1/2 hour away but we got a very nice selection of wine. I only got 6 because they give 10% off if you buy at least 6.  I got some chocolate filled with kahlua too and with all that I only owed about $23 above the $50 gift card.  Here's a picture of what we got.

After lunch  I got some reading done while hubby watched Cash Cab on TV.  Then late afternoon we went and got our new dog licenses for the 3 dogs (have to renew every year).

Years ago the animal shelter was selling outdoor tiles to patrons who contributed $ to get something etched into the tile.  These are tiles that lead to the front door. We had bought one to honor two of our dogs that had passed away.  Hubby thinks we may have gotten a 2nd one but I didn't think so.  Now I am not positive. Next time we go there I'll check every square.  Here is the one I did know was there. It has lasted very nicely.  It has been there at least 10 years I'm pretty sure .

Then for dinner we went to one of our favorite restaurants, Saltgrass Steak House to use a gift card that we got from the oldest.  The steak and loaded potato did not disappoint.  So we got everything done today that was on the To Do list. :)   Tomorrow is laundry day.

Blog # 25 2019

Let's pretend it is still yesterday. :)

Yes I forgot to blog but in my defense I had my Facebook LIVE last evening and that threw me off so that after that it didn't come to mind...I was thrown off my routine.

So yesterday was Friday and I had the morning walk which wasn't bad as it was at least 40 degrees outside.  I actually got close to my 10000 steps in by the time we had walked Ditzy, which is a good thing because I often get hardly more than 1000 steps in once my work day starts.  I sit at my desk a lot!  The bathroom is only 3 steps away and the kitchen is only about 20.  LOL

For the last few days I had seen a lot of pizza commercials and really had a longing for it, so by the time we got one last night I was ready!  I stopped myself at 3 pieces so that I wouldn't regret it afterwards.

Blog #24 2019

Got a call today from the jeweler.  The replacement wedding band for my hubby is finally in.  I will post a photo of it when he is wearing it.  It will be nice for him to have a wedding band to wear again.  It won't match mine like the one he lost but I think it is nice looking.

Today I made something different for lunch.  I made some Toasted Pine Nut Couscous.  I don't have it hardly ever and saw it in the pantry when I was looking for something different to have for lunch.  Added a small side salad and yum!

Tomorrow is Friday. Yah!!  Guess I need a new Desk Blotter. This one showing through my lunch meal is for 2018.  LOL.  Maybe I'll get one this weekend before there aren't any more left.  I'm not sure how long they keep things like that in stock.

Blog #23 2019

I took a video of Bella just now.  Every night after dinner, when I turn on my laptop, she stands up on the chair on the other side and stares at me until I pay attention.  She likes to chew her bully stick after we are done dinner and she'll go in her kennel so I can get it for her.  So cute!  Ditzy likes to chew them too but Tika not so much.  But Tika will be 12 next week so I don't expect her to really enjoy chewing bones any more.

Hump Day is over! :)  It was really windy and cold this morning for my walk but got through it okay.  Just used a sweater under my coat, two scarves, gloves, my winter coat and ear warming head band (really thick one that keeps wind off my ears so they won't ache).  It was in the 30's but the wind chill was likely in the 20's.  We got a little bit of snow too.  Last night when I let the dogs out, I could hear something hitting the ground. It was louder than rain.  It was sleet or hail but definitely something.  There was a few roofs this morning with a little bit of snow in the crevices where the roof lines met.  Other than that though, you wouldn't really know we got anything at all.

Blog #22 2019

Yesterday when my hub and I were walking Ditzy we talked a bit about the English language and how really difficult it is (for others to learn especially).  Forming a correct sentence is one thing and then depending on where a word is placed in a sentence it may mean something totally different!

Then this morning I was having fun with my hubby.  He said he was going to throw his shoes on.  I said "Oh don't throw them on, you might want to just put them on your feet".   Then he said he was going to hit the John before heading out to the grocery. No one named John here.  I said "Oh I don't think you should hit the toilet just aim well please".  Then he said he was going to "Head out".  I said "Why not take the rest of you too and not just your head?".   And this was me just taking everything he said literally!  I had fun and it was interesting how I could make fun of each thing he said.

No picture today.  It was icky grey out all day though it did get up to the low 60's.  I want it all though.  I want those temperatures AND it to be sunny outside!  Then I'd be happy.

I made the Kale chips this afternoon and had them as a snack. Yum!
Here's the Before and After pictures

This morning the sunrise was beautiful!  I snapped a few pictures...which don't do it enough justice but here they are.

There is a cat that lives more outside than in (I think) around the corner that often says hello to anyone or any dog walking by. When I was out on my first walk it came up and rubbed against my legs in greetings.   Then when hub and I were walking Ditzy it came over to say hi to her. Here are a few pics I took since I had the camera with me anyway. Sorry for the blurry pictures of Ditzy. She didn't want to stay in one spot.

Blog #20 2019

Last day of the weekend. Ugh!  It is what it is.  I actually did work a few hours this morning, not that I minded.  Sometimes it makes it easier to transition to work on Monday.  Tomorrow is Martin Luther King's Day which is a holiday but I am working anyway.  It is fine though we do get to take a different day off.

There is to be a Super Blood Wolf Moon tonight but I won't be up to see it.  Right now it is white as it usually is and it won't change until well after 10PM and I am not planning on staying up to see it.  I've been seeing photos of it already posted around Facebook in other areas of the country.  Pretty neat looking but I don't need to stay up.  If I did it would make it that much harder to get up tomorrow morning.

I was looking ahead at the weather to just about the end of the month and it doesn't look like it will be too bad in terms of coldness.  It will be in the 50's to low 60's during the days. And there is only one night that may get below freezing.  Of course this is always subject to change. LOL

I was going to make Kale Chips this afternoon when we got back from the movies but I decided instead I want to let them dry overnight, because I think that will make them better (crispier).  Here they are washed and drying.

We saw A Dog's Way Home at the theater.  It was a cute movie and was as expected but I enjoyed it enough and yes I got emotional a few times, any dog lover would!

Blog #19 2019

The wind was absolutely howling last night and I kept hearing something banging on the back balcony.  We have some rocking chairs, planters, etc., back there and they seemed to be rearranging themselves.   Although I slept over 8 hours since I was able to sleep in, I was awake about an hour and a half per my Fitbit.  Oye!  It was cold today too, more like typical winter with the high only getting in the low 40's tops.  But it is January so I really can't complain.  The winds have died down by late afternoon so I anticipate a nice relatively quiet night tonight.

I had the Empty Nester's Lunch club today and there were only 5 total of us there. At first I was a bit disappointed that there were so few,  but what was nice is that two of the other 4 gals hadn't been there in months! So it made me feel good that they cared enough about the group and the friendships that we are all developing to come out today. I know that it can be really easy for those that miss 3 or more lunches to just pretty much hang it up and not bother coming anymore.  There are in fact some women who joined that have yet to come to any of the functions.  After it has been a year (I started with my first post about possible interest of other women in the community last April), I will remove those members that have never bothered to come to a lunch.

Since I got up a bit late this morning, I didn't have my smoothie until close to 10AM, so I only had a small salad for lunch.  That worked out just fine though so that I was plenty hungry by dinner time for Burger King that hubby was in the mood for.

Tonight I've been reading some and watching Pit Bulls and Parolees, with Bella on my lap!
Life is good!

Blog #18 2019

I only got 5 hrs and 48 minutes of sleep last night.  Tika, our oldest dog was pacing and whimpering to go potty around 12:30AM,  then again around 3:30AM. Then around 5:30AM she was on the bed and she started to heave preparing to get sick.  I put my hands out just in time and caught most of it.  Gross? Yes, but I'd much rather do that and toss it in the toilet and wash my hands than have to change the bedding.  I cleaned up the tiny bit I missed which was more like crumbs.  Then she had to go potty and hubby was already up so he let her out.  I didn't really get back to sleep either since I always get up at 6AM on the days I walk.  So yah.. I'm sitting here yawning. LOL.

I don't know if it was something she ate or what. Oh and one of the others pooped 3 times in my office at some point in the morning too. Oh and I think sometime last night Ditzy got sick in her kennel so I cleaned that today too.   We gave Tika a scrambled egg for breakfast and then at dinnertime gave them all scrambled egg with a little wet dog food.   There were no more accidents and I am hoping for a much more restful night tonight.

I did change the sheets on the bed today and am so glad it is Friday night.  I'm hoping to catch up on some sleep too tonight and hope I can sleep straight through.  Oh, it was really nice opening the dryer and seeing the inside too (with the light replaced by the repair man).

I did my Paparazzi LIVE on Facebook this evening.  It went well though the dogs were rowdy at one point and I had to pick Bella up.  I hope nobody minds but to me it adds more personal touch to the LIVEs.  I wish more people would watch them but at least they can play the replay.  I'll keep doing them and see how it goes. It isn't that much trouble doing them.

Here's to the weekend! :)

Blog #17 2019

Today the washing machine repair guys came to replace the part. Hopefully it is working great now.  Took this video to show y'all that the smallest one is the loudest one!!  They were on repair man patrol.

I had a good day.  Got some OT in at work which is always nice, though it makes for a shorter evening for reading and TV.

Last night I tried taking some cough syrup right before bed to see if that would help with the coughing jags I've been getting at night.  It actually did help quite a bit.  I only woke up from coughing one time and not for long, which was great!

It got up to the low 70's here today though I forgot to step outside to enjoy it for a minute or two.
Should be about the same tomorrow. I'll have to make a point of enjoying it before it gets cold again.

Hump Day!!!!!

Bella says yay!!!

It started out grey today and then was rainy and yucky, and the highs in the 50's only.  But tomorrow it may get up to 70 degrees. So I'm good with that!

I checked the diagnostic website this morning again for my mammogram results. Not there, but then I saw in small writing to allow up to 30 days for the results to be posted on their website.  Wonderful.  But guess what came in the mail today?  I got the results.  The results are good!  I was very glad to read that!

I made a call to the jeweler today that we ordered a replacement wedding ring for hubby from. His ring was supposed to be in around Jan 4th.  They told me they'd call the manufacturer and then call us back.  Well turns out they closed for a few weeks at the holidays and they are a little behind.  I told him it was already 12 days past the 4th as it is.  It may be another 2 weeks and I let him know that we were very unhappy with that.  What if we had wanted it for our wedding?  I told him to let me know when it is in and hung up on him.  Yes sorry but I was not happy.  They are a jeweler. They deal with the public.  Why would they not have a tickler system set up so that THEY called the manufacturer on Jan 5th to see where the ring was.   I don't know if they ever would have followed up.  For all I know he forgot to place the order.  I don't know why it would still be 2 more weeks out otherwise.  We will definitely not deal with that jeweler ever again after this.

Well...looking forward to Friday eve tomorrow.

Blog # 15 2019

Felt like I really turned a corner on this cold today.  My nose has stopped running so much and my cough has subsided. Yippee!

Hubby had bought a large container of diced cooked chicken for a meal he made last evening and there was plenty left, so I made some chicken salad to have for lunch today with some apple slices (sprinkled with cinnamon). It was a nice change from my usual lunch which is usually Kale salad or prior dinner leftovers.  I've been drinking that Buble drink lately too.  It is just slightly flavored sparkling water.

Then I made a small meatloaf and potatoes in the crock pot to have for dinner.  It is always so nice to have dinner ready to eat without any more prep, and the house always smells so good.

I was able to take a short video this evening too of one of the favorite places that Bella likes to hang out.

Blog #14 2019

I got through today okay.  Go me :)

Hubby got me some cough syrup because my cold although better, is creating more coughing that I was doing before.  Ugh!  It seems to be helping a little.  I mean I got through my work day just fine and did my whole walk this morning.   Heck I am at 10,264 steps for today so I am not dragging or anything like that.

So not much to blog about...I'm sure it is boring reading about my cold.  Lol.   I don't have the results of my mammogram yet which I'm hoping is a good sign.  Fingers are crossed that it is normal.  Tomorrow will be a week since I've had it so hopefully will be soon.

Keeping this short. Will write more when there is more to blog about. :)

Blog #13 2019

Today I don't know how long I slept because I forgot to put my Fitbit back on after washing up before bed last night.  But my throat was really dry from sleeping with my mouth open most of the night, so I was up before 7:30AM this morning.  I decided not to exercise since I did not wake up with this cold miraculously gone.

I actually felt good enough to clean the bathrooms well mostly; the sinks, toilets ,mirrors and floors around toilets.  I didn't do the 2 showers but the one is hardly used and the other doesn't really need it yet.  Okay let me just say that it is the hardest to clean (scrubbing the walls, shower floor, etc.,) and I didn't feel quite that well. I got the major things done at least.  Keep in mind, with the addition we have 3 1/2 bathrooms that means 4 sinks, 4 toilets...you get the picture.

I also cleaned a little in the kitchen.  So I was happy enough with it considering I don't feel 100%.

I've been having a super large mug of tea with honey these last few days so that I don't have to get up as often.   Here it is, next to a normal mug that I usually use every day for coffee.

The rest of the day I just relaxed and read, and blew my nose and drank tea, and repeated :)
Hoping tomorrow I will feel better since it is back to the work grind.

Blog #12 2019

I slept nice and long and it was very helpful for my cold.  According to my Fitbit, I slept very close to 10 hours.  I can't remember the last time I got that much sleep but it was much needed!  Went to bed around 9PM last night too...well I was falling asleep during The Blacklist and hubby suggested we head to bed and turn on Blue Bloods and watch it there.  I didn't get through much of that. Lol.

Today I had already had plans to meet up with Stac and her hubby at a Chinese restaurant about 20 minutes away that I heard on Nextdoor was really good.  It did not disappoint!  It was delicious (even with my cold I could taste it) and there was plenty left over to take home.  My hubby said he'd be willing to try it sometime.  It is the best Chinese I've ever had here in Texas that's for sure!

I've been taking Tylenol today (took it twice already) and am feeling better than I did yesterday.  So hopefully I'm already on the down side of this thing.  I am still trying to decide if I want to exercise tomorrow or not.  I'll see how I feel when I get up tomorrow.

This evening we had a terrific dinner.  I don't honestly think we've had crab legs since moving to Texas.  Anyway I forgot to take a before photo but here's the empty tray of the obvious After photo.
It was yummy and we'll have to have it again soon!

Blog #11 2019

I made through the work week but barely.  Well the only reason is I think I caught my hubby's cold.  This morning I felt horrible after my walk and also felt congested during the night.  I didn't think my usual walk would do any harm but it actually zapped what little energy I had.   I ended up taking some Tylenol in the afternoon and actually felt better.  I had some chicken noodle soup for lunch because that is all I felt like eating.

I don't feel too bad right now either, just sleepy.  I've been drinking tons of water to try to drown this sucker out too.  LOL.  I normally do my Paparazzi Lives on Friday evenings but wasn't going to happen tonight.  I just posted a previous one that I had done.

Just sitting back with Bella on my lap, watching TV.  I'm glad the shows are coming back on from the holiday hiatus.  Looking forward to Blacklist and Blue Bloods.  Keeping this short this evening so I can stop thinking and typing.  ;)

Blog #10 2019

Today would have been my mom's 92nd birthday, so I said Happy Birthday to her up in heaven.  I have no clue whether she heard me or not.  I only hope she is at peace and happy wherever her spirit is.

Well the repair shop guys we always use for our washer/dryer came today but instead of fixing the washer they just charged us a $40 trip fee and ordered a part for the washer.  They also ordered a light bulb for the dryer.  That has been out for months!!  The door to the dryer was left ajar too many times and it went out.  This is the first dryer I've ever owned where the light went out. I blame that one on hubby.  ;-)   They were here and gone in less than 10 minutes.

Hubby said if they charge another $40 trip fee when they come out with the parts which may not be for 3-10 days (they said we can manually advance the setting), then we'll no longer use them again either.    Yes the person who scheduled this should have said that it won't likely be fixed today, and that there would be a trip charge, but I do know some places that have a $75 service charge just for coming out.  Who knows.  We'll see what happens. I don't think we'll have to do much if any laundry before another week.  We were pretty caught up before it broke yesterday.

Today is one of my favorite eve's ever!  It is Friday eve 's and here was my view while waiting for dinner to be ready. Yes I always have tissue at hand, the way my allergies always are. :)

Blog #9 2019

Today was back to being a crisp mid 40's this morning but that is fine with me.  I will take that over below freezing anytime.  The sunrise was gorgeous too but unfortunately didn't have a camera with me.

So yesterday it was the hot water heater. This morning after I started working I came out into the kitchen to make my smoothie and hubby asked me if I put the wash on 2nd rinse.  I hadn't touched any laundry this morning.  He said that it was going for what could have been a couple hours already.  We went to check it out and it was stuck on the agitation setting.

Hubby ended up taking the clothes out and rinsing them in the bathroom sink, wringing as best he could and putting them in the dryer.  The repair guy is scheduled to come tomorrow morning.  I am hoping it can just be fixed but I also know the washer and dryer both are over 13 years old now.  I don't know what the 'life expectancy' of those machines are these days.  If we have to get a new one, we'll do that.  It is always something.

Blog #8 2019

This morning I wanted to take a quick shower after exercising before I went for my mammogram appointment.  I turned on the shower and stepped halfway in but it never got hot, not even warm!
I turned the water off and stepped out, grabbed a towel and walked down the hall to the hot water heater. Yup, no red blinking light.  It wasn't even a bit windy last night but at some point it went out!

So I just washed up as best I could, ugh.  Then I called for hubby.  For once I wanted to restart it myself since there will be a time he isn't home when it goes out.  How do I know that?  It went out when he was gone back east last summer and I just dealt with it until he got home.  Since it was summer my cooler showers felt good to me and I boiled water with a kettle for rinsing the dishes.
And I always use cold water for laundry so it really wasn't a big deal in the summer.

I didn't quite get it (didn't turn it until it clicked), so hubby finished it but I think I have it down now. We can go months and months without it going out and then it goes out more frequently.  I don't know if it is with the seasons or what.

Anyway...I got to my appointment and didn't have to wait long.  It wasn't too bad and I was back home and at my desk working by 8:45AM.   I did ask to look at the films and she showed me them.  I didn't see anything suspicious or monstrous..lol but who knows.  I did ask her to show me that marker they put in me when I had that botched up needle biopsy years ago and sure enough it was still there.  Hopefully I'll get that letter next week telling me nothing was found and I'm good.   Funny how it is a weight off my mind that I finally had it done.  I had been feeling guilty (subconsciously mostly I think) about putting it off so long.

Tomorrow is hump day. Yes! The work week is downhill after that.

Blog #7 2019

Got through Monday's work day.  It was nice to get back into the groove.  Okay, that is what I keep telling myself, anyway.

It was really nice and nearly 60 degrees this morning for the walk, so I really enjoyed it.  Not sure if I'll get my 10,000 steps in but I suppose if I walk around a little bit I will.  I'm at 9443 right now.

This evening I was able to catch one of the prettiest sunset's ever.  I actually was going into the powder room when I saw out the small window the below photos. The other 2 were out the back porch.  Even these pictures don't do the sunset justice.

Blog #6 2019

Last day of the weekend...NNOooooooo..  . ;0)

Okay so last night when I was making dinner I noticed how dirty the oven was (there was even a little bit of smoke coming out from something burnt).  I hadn't noticed it before because like I said I usually am not the one to cook.

I saw the movie Aquaman was playing at our local theater today around 1PM.  So I asked hubby if he wanted to go if he felt up to it.  If he was not up to it, I was going to clean the oven instead of going to the movie.  He felt a little better today and even went 'picking' this morning as he sometimes does, so I got out of cleaning the oven.  :)

The movie was very good.  The special effects were good and Jason Momoa...well let's just say I don't think I could ever get tired of watching him.   LOL.   I looked him up after we got home and I have to give Lisa Bonet a high five for marrying him.  She is 51 and he is only 39!  You go girl!!  They already have 2 children together but just got married near the end of 2017.  So not sure what took so long but hey, none of my business.

When the movie ended hubby was about to get up but I asked him to wait.  All avid Marvel movie goers know that there is always a future scene after some of the credits. Many people walked out and missed it, but sure enough there was a clip.  Looks like there will be an Aquaman 2.  Who is going to see that one ?  This lady is!!!  Hope it will be sooner than later.

It was a nice warm weekend for January.  It got up to 73 yesterday and right now at 5PM it is still 68 and sunny.  It is nice to get a teaser of spring every once in a while.

Blog #5 2019

I like numbering my blog titles.  It keeps me motivated to write every day knowing I want to stay in order of the days in the year.  :)

Those who know me, know that sometimes I work a lot. And so since hubby has a bit more time that I do, we have taken a sort of traditional role reversal these last 5 years or so.  So he has been the one doing the grocery shopping, doing most of the cleaning and making dinner every night for the most part.

Today, however his throat had been really bothering him.  His voice sounded more like Sam Elliott and although I love the sound, I could tell he was hurting.  He asked if I could make dinner.  Well I honestly could make dinner every weekend if he wanted as my work has not been spilling into the weekends as of late.

Anyway, I gladly agreed to make dinner, but what was so funny was...he was acting so much like a wife who doesn't like her husband in the kitchen.

He was telling me where things were and how long to put things in the oven.  And he went to get the perogies for me from the freezer. I had to keep saying "I thought you wanted ME to make dinner".  It was just so funny that a man can act just like a woman when he is used to doing things she usually does.  He Finally went to sit in the living room after it was clearly pointed out to him a few times that if he was going to just do things in the kitchen he might as well make it himself.  I found myself shaking my head. LOL.

Today our Ditzy was sleeping with part of her tongue out which is so cute to me!  She doesn't seem to ever notice it but it makes for a cute picture so I took a couple.

Blog #4 2019

Yippee it is Friday again!!  I really have been loving these holiday weeks.  Next week will be a real adjustment getting used to working 5 days in a row.  LOL

Well I did as I committed and set my mammogram appointment finally.  They had an opening today at 4:30PM but I didn't take that, since I need to clear it with my work first.  So I have an appointment Tuesday morning.  They wanted me to get a 3D Mammogram but I'm opting for the same digital type that I have been getting the last 6 years or so.  Although the new ones can view the images in 'slices', I would rather not have something newly suspicious found and cause more angst and tests and potential for it to be nothing, like the botched up needle biopsy I had about 13 years ago.  What got me perturbed was that if I hadn't asked what type I was getting, they would have just done the 3D anyway as that is what she told me they would do, until I insisted on the one I've been getting.  She said that insurance covers the new improved 3D Imaging but I don't care.  I just think there is more chance of more false positives.  I will just keep my fingers crossed that it will all go well and that I'll be clear.

I did my Paparazzi Live sale this evening (ship to US only).  I do them every Friday evening as a way to promote my Paparazzi jewelry business.  Feel free to watch if you are in the US and shop if you'd like too. :)

Tomorrow is the Empty Nester lunch club get together.  There are many that can't come so it will probably be a light group.  But that is fine with me.  I'm just glad that I have been able to make some local friends finally.  :-)

Blog #3 2019

It is Friday eve'  yeah!!!

I can tell folks are back from vacation as things are picking up on the work front.
It was rainy a good portion of today but the sun finally came out this afternoon.  My mood always lifts when it is sunny out so I was feeling in a better spirit by the end of the work day.

I had a hair appointment after that and my wonderful hair dresser got me looking sassy again. Woo hoo! I am ready to have another weekend already.  LOL.  Bring it on.

Not sure what I'll do but I know the bathrooms are in need of cleaning so that is definitely on the weekend list.  Hopefully will do something fun to offset that un-fun but necessary task.

I never did get my mammogram by the end of the year either so swore to myself that I will call them tomorrow to get it scheduled finally.  No more excuses  :-)

Blog #2 2019

Today I missed out on my walk this morning.  It was pouring rain and only in the mid 30's (barely above freezing), so alas I had to skip it today.  Then it continued to rain the rest of the day bleh!

I am very glad that today was already hump day.  It was a pretty uneventful day all in all.  Things are always a bit slow during the holidays.

My youngest had given me a spiralizer for Christmas and I forgot to mention that Monday I used it for the first time with zucchini and it was a lot of fun and very easy to use.  I stir fried it with some onion for some yummy vegetables to have with dinner that night.  I am going to look up soups and other recipes that I can use it for.  It is exciting, like a kid getting a new toy!

Happy New Year! Blog #1 of 2019

Well here it is the 1st of a new year!   We didn't bother trying to stay up late last night, though I did wake up just after midnight to the television celebration.  We left the TV on because of all the local illegal firework activity going on which scared one of our dogs really badly.   It did help calm her down enough to get to sleep.

Actually got a little over 9 hours of sleep too.  I haven't slept that long in I don't know how long.  It felt great to get that much sleep though I hate how fast the rest of the day went. LOL.

Today I visited with a group of gals to play some games.  One of the gals in the empty nesters group I started suggested it last week and offered up her home to have it at. I thought it would be fun.  Although there were only 4 of us, we had a good time.  We had lots of snacks and the game we played was fun.  It was called Qwirkle.  I've never played it before. I have to say I haven't played any games except for playing cards in a long time.  This gal had several games too but I hadn't heard of any of them. I am impressed that there are still new board and other games being made and sold because I wasn't really sure how popular they still are with all the video/computer games out there. So glad to see it.

Well back to the grind tomorrow...at least it will already be Hump Day.. :-)
