It has been a while I know..I worked Sunday and then the week began and I just didn't blog.  Monday we took Ditzy to the vet as she wasn't eat like she was before.  She seemed to be avoiding the dry dog food.  We did a gradual switch recently to Purina Proplan to avoid the no grain diet that they were on, due to all the news as of late of no grain diets causing heart problems and such in some dogs.

Anyway they ran some blood test and all came back fine.  When we were at the vet, she did mention how she hard had any chewing teeth in the back left and being 9 years old maybe just didn't like trying to chew hard kibbles, so we have moved her to strictly wet Proplan food.  She ate just fine the last few days.  I'm just so glad that she is okay otherwise as I was hoping it wasn't mouth cancer (like Molly had). So all good news there.

Well the A/C unit in the addition that was just built 2 years ago is leaking. I suspect the contractor who built it didn't know what the hell he was doing when he installed it and did not make sure that the hose was connected to the outside drip pipe as that is dry but there was a dribble of water on the cement about a foot to the left of that pipe.  Also the floor near the window has warped from water damage.  So....the A/C issues never cease.  I am praying they don't have to cut through the wall to get it fixed which would require replacing some drywall, texturing, painting...ugh. It will be a few weeks before the guy we want to have come out to fix it can come but we're not using it in the meantime.

So the only A/C we are actually using in this 100 degree heat is the main level living room Central Air unit which I am thankful works just fine. KNOCK ON WOOD.

I keep forgetting to take pictures of the sod out back.  I will try to take pictures tomorrow.  We've managed to keep the grass fairly well.  It is the only area that really looks decent out back too since we don't have any sprinklers out back and we haven't had rain in a week and a half.

We were laughing so hard and I was able to get some of it on video as Bella was trying to get Tika to play with her but Tika just didn't want any part of it.

Today summer has come back with a vengeance. It got up to at least 93 degrees and that I checked at 7PM  I sure hope the sod we had put in will stay green.  I watered it some myself this morning as I am concerned with it getting so hot.  Probably not a good time of year to be doing this, but oh well fingers crossed it grows roots okay to the top soil we had put downs and stays green.

I got some replacement solar lids for our porch mason jar lights. When hubby replaced them though he noticed the old lids were really dirty so they maybe just needed cleaning.  But anyway they are working wonderfully now.

The first picture I took was in the dark and the next two were with the flash.  The days I walk in the morning it is starting to still be dark when I first start out.  I was impressed the other day to see they were still LIT when I started out for my walk.  How cool is that?!

Well back to the grindstone I've been.  It was just as busy if not more since before I went on vacation.  So I've had to work a little later both yesterday and today.  I expected it though so it is no surprise.

It has been just over 4 weeks since we got 'on the books' for the outside trim paint job.  The guy said it should be 3 weeks give or take.  I'm not going to do anything about it.  If it happens that is fine, if it doesn't I'm okay with getting it done next year.

We did get some top soil and sod put down out back where the ground had washed away at the bottom of the porch and out some and really just had sand there and no ground.  It looks so much better now and hubby is diligently watering it twice a day to make sure it doesn't dry up.  This is another reason I don't mind the painting delay as I'd rather not have painters placing heavy ladders on the sod to paint the trim on the back of the house.  I didn't take any before pictures but I'll try to remember to take some pictures of the sod laden back yard area for my blog.

Tomorrow is hump day so that is a good thing.  It will be TGIF time before I know it right? :)

Well Sunday night is here, darn.  LOL.   My vacation is fully over now and it is back to the grindstone tomorrow.  I had a nice week so no complaining here.  Yesterday was the lunch with the empty nesters group.  There were only 4 of us but it was a good time as always.  I had some leftover Chinese for dinner so we ended up getting pizza tonight. I think we threw off the pizza delivery guy as it is often Friday nights when we get pizza.

It is suppose to be a little cooler this week starting Tuesday. The lows may even get to 69 which is really rare for Texas.

Not much else to blog about.  I hope it won't be too hard to get up tomorrow morning to start my routine again.  Hope my brain hasn't turned to mush in a week.  :)

Today was my last day off.. :0(
But we hung around for the most part.  I did gather more clothes to give away and now my part of the closets look much more manageable ...for now.  :)

We did go out and had dinner at my new favorite Chinese restaurant that is not too far from here.  They give you enough food for at least 4 adults but it also tastes very fresh and is yummy!

Then after we got back Ditzy and Bella were racing around having fun... :)  It was really nice and stress relieving to have off this week.  I'm so glad I took it off.

Can I please have another week off?  Can I?  P*L*E*A*S*E?
I am having such a nice time off and I don't want it to be Thursday afternoon already.

Yesterday I walked by myself as one of my walking buddies is not feeling well and the other had an early appointment.  I took this video of my 'long walk'.   Too funny huh?  :)

I also spotted a baby deer that had a white belly.  I haven't seen one quite this color that I recall. The fact that it covered so far up each side with white, made it look different.

Then yesterday later in the morning we headed down to an fun little town south of here called Gruene.  We have been there before with the kids but always on a Saturday or Sunday when it was packed and parking was scarce.  So it was wonderful going mid-week.  It was great going into shops and being able to easily get around and look at things.  We couldn't find the nice restaurant we wanted to eat at but I remembered another place we could drive to that I had eaten at with the kids when I was visiting last fall.  That place is called The Gruene Door and it is more of an upscale eatery but very good food and was indoors with nice air conditioning!  (We had started out at the wrong restaurant in Gruene and ordered/paid for our drinks then left after realizing it wasn't the right place.  It was all outdoor seating and the women's rest room that I visited reminded me of the latrines at summer camp).

Today we stayed home and I am doing some light laundry and organizing...no toilet scrubbing (but that will likely be done this weekend when my vacation is officially over).  LOL

And I created a great ice cream treat for those times when we don't feel like jumping in the car and going to Sonic for my favorite ice cream treat the  M&M Sonic Blast (which in this weather is half melted by the time it gets to our house after only a 5 minute drive).

Is it already Tuesday evening?....This week is going way too fast for me!!
But I'm relaxing and also doing some things that I want to do. For instance today I sang on singsnap and managed to pull off 5 songs that I'm happy with.

Yesterday hubby & I went grocery shopping together at our favorite store that has 10% off for seniors on Mondays.  We saved $78!!  Yup it was 33% of the bill and I was thrilled!  I was enjoying looking at the variety of fruit and such that they had available.  I don't know what Jack Fruit tastes like but I didn't give it a shot since it was so very big (and if I didn't like it I would be tossing it and I hate to do that, especially something that is so big.)  I snapped a picture of it by itself and then next to a full pineapple which was dwarfed by it.

Then yesterday afternoon we saw Crawl at the local movie theater.  It was good for a thriller...and yes I jumped I think 3 times in my seat.  :)

This morning we took Bella for her vet appointment. I was worried she would maybe bite them as her last experience with any stranger outside the home was the groomer who came into our garage to groom her after work last month and that was a fiasco.  But she did really well and didn't snap at any of them.  And the vet checked her out physically as I told her that nearly every time I pick her up she yelps when I am nearly to the floor to put her down.  She said she does have some Patellar luxation which means the patella (kneecap) slips out of place for some reason and can cause pain, etc.. But she said many small breed dogs tend to have that and she didn't think Bella had a bad case of it or anything and she is less than 3 years old.  So there is no real reason why she yelps when I put her on the floor.  She doesn't yelp when hubby picks her out and puts her down either.  So I guess at this point I will have to try to get over my own fear of picking her up (and placing her on the floor) . LOL.  I've never had this with any of the many dogs I've owned. It is just so weird.

Our appointment was at 9:30am and I hadn't eaten yet so when we got back I made myself a nice breakfast which I certainly couldn't have done if I didn't have off. I had organic raspberries drizzled with chocolate syrup, cantaloupe drizzled with local honey, apples with cinnamon and the 2nd half of my whole grain bagel that I got at the store yesterday also drizzled with honey.  It was yummy!

Well I did it!  I made it to my week off!  Woo hoo!  I did work yesterday for about 6 hours but that is okay.  I did not work today.

It is suppose to be a hot week but we are going to have some fun nonetheless.  A movie in a nice cool theater, antiquing here and there,  and I want to take hubby to a Chinese restaurant that I think is very good!  I ate there with the youngest and her hubby a while back as I had heard it recommended on a local group.  It did not disappoint!

I spent some time today going through one yes I said one of my closets of clothes to lighten it up some.  I admit I have become a clothes fanatic, especially when it comes to Lularoe.  It is long past due that I clear out some of the clothes that I either got on sale just because it was on sale, or that I just never will wear, or really don't care for now that I've actually gotten it and it doesn't look or fit the way I thought.  And I have a goal of not buying anything new for a while.  We'll see how long I can last.

I know I am not the only woman who loves clothes.   At least I don't also have a ton of shoes, or purses.  There are many women who have tons of shoes.  I have maybe 4-5 pair, so there's that. :)
I do admit to having a lot of Paparazzi jewelry but I also love that though that has also gotten nipped as well since I sold off nearly all of my inventory and am no longer a representative (as of April).
I swear to not buy any jewelry in a long, long time either.

Looking forward to doing or not doing whatever I want this week, and cleaning is likely on the not doing side.  ;-)

Here it is Friday 'eve once again!  Yippee!  Last evening the youngest and I ate at our favorite Thai restaurant for dinner while hubby fended for himself.  His stomach hadn't been the greatest in the last few days and he doesn't care for Thai anyway.   We had a nice time chatting and enjoying our meal. There is only one Thai restaurant in town and I don't get to eat it very often, though once in a while I do get take out that hubby picks up for me.

This evening we had dinner at his favorite local restaurant Longhorn Steakhouse.  I have some decent leftovers for tomorrow.  I was glad to see it wasn't crowded and we didn't have to wait to get seated.

Work has been busy as of late but I do have off next week so I can deal with the next few days.  We had a storm pass very near us last night which helped cool it down quite a bit.  It rained a little but mostly it was a cool (sometimes strong) wind that came through.  I spent some time after I washed up at the back balcony and saw some impressive lightning in the distance.  Wish I could have gotten a picture but I didn't have my camera or phone upstairs and it was not consistent.   It was so nice to be able to stand out there without fear of wasps or anything else to concern myself with (since it is screened in), and the lightning was far enough away that there was no risk of getting struck either).  :-)

This week the youngest is staying with us until Friday morning as she is attending some teacher education at a school district not far from us (and a lot closer than her house) so it is really nice having her here.  I like to pretend she still lives here.  LOL.

It has been hot this week so far with heat indexes over 100 degrees but hey after all it is Summer! :)
It at least still gets down to the 70's overnight so it is okay.  We have had the air conditioning on, on the first level all day as it just gets too hot to not have it on.

No dog videos today but what I showed you is a little of what goes on around here every day.  They sure add a lot of joy and life to this household.

I do have off next week from work so I am really looking forward to relaxing some, going out to eat, seeing a movie, going antiquing.  It will be fun!!

I am posting a couple videos that hubby took this afternoon.  These dogs sure keep us hoping sometimes!  I am so glad for all I dogs I've had through the years.  They have added so much joy and love to the household!

I don't usually blog in the morning like this. Surprise!  Actually I got up earlier than I would have in order to get a jump start on work but the system is down so....I have to wait for it to come up.  Oye!
I did call about it and it isn't just me.

So I put the TV on...watching some good ol' M*A*S*H shows on cable TV while I wait. I used to be such an avid M*A*S*H fan and loved Hawkeye's sense of humor. So it is enjoyable to watch a few episodes.  I don't want to do any cleaning as I'm already dressed for the day and have a little make up on.  It is lunch day with the empty nester group.  My attire for the week has been LuLaroe Carly dresses so today is the last day for them.  Hey anything to lighten up my week right? :)

Hubby got me some Benedryl as I have a rash on part of my neck. Calamine lotion is helping it but I don't want to keep using it.  I thought when it cleared up so nicely after using that for a day that it was it, but the other day when I was cleaning the bathroom and sweating, it was itching again.  It may just be heat rash, at least I'm hoping that is all it is.  It isn't anywhere else and I am able to not scratch it (with determination). LOL  I just took one Benedryl with my morning smoothie so we'll see if that helps.

Off to see if I can get started with work.

Happy 4th of July !!!

I had off today but was asked if I wanted to work about an hour before the end of my work day.  But I really needed a day off as I will likely work the weekend so I passed.  I am so glad I did!  I enjoyed singing on singsnap for a few hours this afternoon and earlier I cleaned our bathroom really well (which means including the floor even underneath the sinks..lol).  Also this morning I cleaned the floor in the office and replaced the runners with the new rug that came a few days ago.

We first put the runners in that room for Molly who was very afraid of what I'm sure she interpreted as slippery floors.  You'd think she was on ice when she tried to walk on a smooth floor, it was almost comical.  But anyway since she passed away last year it dawned on me that I could get rid of the runners and get a nice rug.  So as promised here are some before and after pictures.  I love the colors and it is a nice big rug (9' 3" x 12').

We have had a few flies in the house.  Between the two of us, we killed 4 or 5 the other day.  SO I asked hubby to see if he could find those old fashioned fly strips that you hang up to catch the flies.
He wasn't sure if they were even made any more but he came home from Ace Hardware with this.  I could not believe that they purposely make them to look like flies are already stuck on them!  I don't know if this attracts them or what but I thought it was so funny that it already looked like this!!

We are trying one in the garage to see if that helps.  We also moved the trash can further down the driveway away from the garage since it is getting hot outside as a fly or two like to get in the trash can sometimes.

I actually haven't seen any flies in the house for a day or two so maybe it is working.  But I told him after I saw it "Who would buy a fly strip that already looks like it is full of flies, gross! "

Two days!  I just have to work one more day until I am OFF for the 4th! Yippee!  I can really use the break!  It has been a challenging few months for sure!

The new rug for my office came this evening so I am excited to remove all the runners from my office on the 4th and get the new rug down.  Why of course I will take pictures!

We had a little rain after dinner and it isn't raining right now but it did cool it down about 10 degrees.  It is only 84 degrees outside right now.  It was 95 degrees sometime before dinner.
