I worked this weekend and I am all caught up.  Yea!!

I remember that I forgot to write what happened with the big water bug issue~ (see Post 157)
I told hubby about the one going into the pantry that next morning and he proceeded to empty whatever was on the floor and created a barricade so that it couldn't get out.  He got it cornered after it came out from a box and he got it although he said it put up a good fight (kept getting just out of the way).  Then that night saw the other one that keeps going under the trim below the oven.  Luckily the fly swatter was on the kitchen counter and I crept behind the island so it didn't see me until it was too late, so I got it!!

I thought that was the end of it but I have seen another one in the kitchen which we have yet to get.  I do feel glad that we got the other two at least.  One of them was really big - we're talking 2 inches long!  Ewwweeeee!!

Hubby took this picture today.  It is rare to see Bella and Tika both sharing a chair. How cute!

Fun Friday!  That is what today was for hubby I think as he got creative with the potted plant we have on the balcony with the mushrooms growing in it.   These were all his idea.

Today marks 4 years since my father passed away.  He cheated death more than once that I can recall and possibly more times than that.  Once when I was young he impaled his leg with a rusty nail while I think making a sand box for us kids.  He had a blue line traveling up his leg and finally went to the doctor in time (before the blood poisoning went too far).

He also cut his eye badly when a piece of machinery broke off at the resister company he co-owned with 3 other men. I don't recall what exactly broke but I think it was while in operation so it flew with some power behind it.  He could have been blinded in that eye but he recovered. And again I don't know what all broke but if had been more pieces of the equipment it could have been so much worse.  I may not have all the facts of this event straight but I do remember vividly seeing him in the rocking chair holding his head (as he weathered the pain of his eye healing).

Then there is the obvious cheat when he was diagnosed with non-hodgkin's lymphoma when he was in his early 70's (I believe).  It was either stage 3 or stage 4. Sorry I didn't write down the dates and all the details but it was when he and mom were still living in PA so it was probably about 20-25 years ago.  He beat the cancer and had a full recovery from that.

So in my opinion he was a great escape artist from death until it must have been his time 4 years ago when he was nearly 90 years old.

When we were planning his funeral we came up with the idea of having decks of cards made with his name and dates of birth/death to hand out at the funeral.  It was a memorable gift as I have never been to a funeral where they handed out decks of cards.  Dad loved to play bridge and that is what he spent the majority of his last few years enjoying.  Here's a photo I took today in memory of him.

Something I noticed today was that I say "I'm working on that" to a lot of things!  Like my hubby reminded me that we have a certain snack available and I said "I'm working on the pretzel rods before they go stale".  I should just say "I am enjoying" or "I am eating" but nope, I am working on...
hmm.. does that mean I'm working too much?  LOL

We had a late afternoon short rain shower so it cooled things down a bit and it is down to 78 degrees so we won't be using the a/c tonight again.  I love the fresh air!  There are so many folks around here that never open a window or door (unless entering/leaving their house).  They always have their house closed up and have the air blowing 24/7 or heat (in the winter).  Not me.  Even though I'm pretty sure I have allergies I still would rather have fresh air unless it is so sweltering outside that the A/C has to be used.

We got some rain last night and then some more this morning and a little later too but luckily it wasn't raining at all for the walk.  Thank you God.   :-)   I had to shut down my computer and unplug it all late this morning as the storm was getting bad at one point.  But on a good note it is only 71 degrees out so it will be a nice cool night to sleep and we won't need any air conditioning either.  So that will be very nice!

Not much else to write.  Just another Monday over.

Today was a good day.   I was able to sleep in a little but also got a good amount of work done.  It also didn't get quite as hot as it has been the last few days (with heat indexes over 100), so that was nice.  I also got more jewelry put away in the chest of drawers hubby made a 2nd shelf for.

I am sitting here watching Live PD.  The last 3 or 4 nights when I've gone into the kitchen to turn off the light and head to bed, I have seen one of those big ass water bugs!  They look like huge roaches.  Every time I saw it I just missed it before it got under the trim.  One time it even saw me when I saw it and it got away before I even reached it.  I just hate those things.

So of course every time I see it hubby is already in bed.  Just a few minutes ago I had the dogs out and came in and took a double take at the kitchen floor because there were 2 IN THERE!!  They saw me and started to run and I threw my shoe at one but missed it.  UGH!  That really bothers me now.  I would get an exterminator in the house but hubby thinks that would poison the dogs.  I know they have stuff that is not suppose to be harmful to dogs but hubby doesn't think that is true.  Tomorrow I am going to see it there is an opening in the trim where I see one of them go under and see if I can't stuff it with something.   I am going to look in the pantry too and see if I can't get some stuff up off the floor or something.  They have to go!

Friday already?  Why yes it is!  It has been another busy week at work and yes I will be working some this weekend too.  Gotta take it while it is available.  ;-)

Here are some fun pictures and a video of Bella.  Hubby took these so I have to give him credit.

CAN YOU FIND THE DOG IN THIS PICTURE?

This is going to be a short one.  I worked late this evening with a break for my super cute haircut & color.  I went pixie cut again.  So I am tired and going to relax right now before headed to bed and starting all over again.  Will write more soon.

Yesterday was Father's Day and we went out to eat with the youngest and her hubby who came to visit in the afternoon.  It was a fun time.  I was a little surprised at the fact that we had to wait over 30 minutes to be seated when we got there before 4:00PM!  Popular place that's for sure!

The oldest also called hubby to wish him a Happy Fathers Day too.  So his day was complete. :)

I did work yesterday as well for about 6 hours.  It made today a nice day as I was pretty much caught up.  Go me!  :)

We had some bad storms last night.  One hit around 9PM and was so bad it also was hailing.  It sounded so loud in the garage (where the metal roof is right above).  Then at 11:30 PM I was jolted awake by a loud clap of thunder.  There was quite a bit of thunder and lightning for a while then. Hubby didn't even wake up during that storm - I was very surprised.

No chance of rain tonight so hopefully will get a good night's sleep.

It was a restful night last night.  No accidents from Bella and we all slept better!  She seems to be pretty much normal though we still gave her eggs today (with a tiny bit of wet dog food mixed in).  She also got a bath this afternoon as her hind area needed it.  ;0)   She's nice and clean and her dog bed is back in the kennel for tonight.

This weekend is another work weekend.  Also had the women's lunch today which was really nice.  We had 7 there today.  I actually left a little early than the rest because it was close to 2 hours.  Getting back to work after a relaxing lunch is a bit rough but I did, then worked a little more after dinner.  I really don't mind as it has been a while since OT has been offered.

We are watching Live PD right now. Going to end this here and relax for a bit.

Thank God it is Friday!  Not so much because of the work stress, but I just didn't get good quality sleep last night. It actually started Thursday night, when Bella the youngest and smallest of our furkids had bad poops in her kennel.  We thought we smelled something really bad and she was scratching at her bed trying to find a clean spot  When I was about to get up, she seemed to settle down so I let it go.  Then next morning I saw she had indeed messed up the cover of her bed pretty bad.  So that got promptly washed and although she did have one other sloppy poop episode later in the day I thought it would just pass.  She was acting fine otherwise, playing, eating as normal, etc.

So fast forward to last night.  I put a towel in her kennel just in case she was still going to have poop problems.  Sure enough right after midnight she had pooped  diarrhea and was scratching at the towel.  I felt bad about not doing anything for her the night before so I got up and cleaned it up and put a fresh towel in the kennel. She wanted to come out but that wasn't going to happen.  Who know where she would end up going then.  I was trying to get back to sleep and it seemed like I had not slept much at all when I heard what sounded like one of the dogs getting sick.  I assume it was her though I didn't put a light on. This was shortly after 2:00AM.  So I opened her kennel and let her out.  I wanted to see if maybe going outside would help in case she had to go again.  She did go out side and came in and got some water and I just decided to stay downstairs and let her sleep on the floor (she went behind a chair which is one of her favorite places).  I sat in the lazy boy and put the foot rest up and tried to get some rest.  I figured when hubby came downstairs at 4AM or so I would go back to bed.

Every time I started to doze off, Tika (who has to be wherever I am) started loudly chewing her paws, then I heard the water cooler making loud gurgling noises, then Bella got up and shifted to another position and her tags clanged on the floor.  It was actually comical when I think about it, but it was not a very restful night as I'm sure you get the picture by now.

Hubby came down a little before 4AM and then I went upstairs.  I was actually very surprised that my fitbit indicated that I actually got 6 hours sleep because I sure don't think so.  Maybe when you are lying still it just shows as 'light sleep'..who knows.

We only gave Bella a little scrambled eggs for breakfast and again some for dinner and I'm hoping tonight she'll be fine.  I have not seen her poop today to catch what it was like.  So I am really hoping when she goes in her kennel tonight with a freshly washed towel, that she will just sleep through .  She has been acting normal today, playing ,barking at people walking by, etc., so I am glad she doesn't seem to be really sick. And she hasn't had any diarrhea on her pee pads or all over the house or anything like that.  But if she has another rough night I will call the vet tomorrow morning and see about taking her in.

This video isn't the greatest but Ditzy is getting very good at a certain ball game she plays with hubby . He throws the ball which she catches with her back and spins around and sometimes it head back to him.  It is very hard to catch on video but the first few throws should give you an idea. He reactions are very sharp and she loves to play ball!

I am so glad tomorrow is Friday. I plan to take some of my much needed time off soon.  I just need to find out when a good time is that many others aren't also taking off.  It has been a stressful week and that is when I realized I really need to take some days off.

It will be nice to see the youngest and her hubby on Father's Day for a visit.  We will probably eat somewhere versus cooking something at home.  There is a restaurant that we haven't been to in a while.

This is the 150th post of the year and the 162nd day of this year.  So that isn't too bad. I only didn't blog 12 days which isn't bad because honestly it is tough to blog every single day, especially when there isn't really anything to write about.  So I'm happy enough with that.

We had another very nice day today.  It stayed no higher than the low 80's and it was nice not being hot or needing the A/C on.  I realize it isn't really even summer yet but here in Texas it is often already consistently hot by now.  It is suppose to get back up to the 90's by the weekend so I'm going to enjoy the nicer temperatures while I can.

This week I am calling this long dress themed week.  Every day so far I have worn a long Lularoe dress. Yesterday I wore an Ana since it was cooler (that has partial sleeves). It is fun wearing long dresses even though I don't go anywhere. They make me feel more feminine and pretty.  Luckily I have plenty of them to choose from too.

We had someone come by yesterday to look at giving us a quote for painting the trim. We haven't received his quote yet but plan to get a few more bids before deciding.  I'm really in no rush.

Today was a much nicer day at work because I didn't have to feel like I was running a race against time :)   Don't know how the rest of the week will be but I am happy today was nice at least!

I won a few books from the NWAL senior sheltie rescue auction last week and got them on Saturday.  They were signed and sent by the author herself.  One is titled Mollie's Tail. I chatted with the author a little bit on Saturday evening to tell her we had a Molly too (just spelled differently).  She seems really nice.  Since I'm waiting for the oldest to finish The Nightingale I started reading this author's book.  It is interesting enough as I feel for this woman as she had her first attempt at adopting a sheltie who was doomed to be put to sleep due to an owner surrender.  We've had a few that didn't work out for us too so I totally can relate to this story.

I only bid on these books because no one else had bid yet and I'm always a sucker for rescue organizations, especially sheltie ones!

The tornado alarm went off last evening around 5:45PM and I was surprised as it was barely grey outside and no rain at all.  There was a sound bound storm that apparently had a tornado (or possible tornado) already touch down that was headed our way so they sounded the siren as a warning.  So there was a Tornado warning until 6:30 PM. Luckily the main storm went south and slightly west so we missed it.  There was also a storm possibly turning into tornado headed to a town east of us. So I felt so lucky that we were in the middle (like the parted sea) and relatively safe where we were.  We got some wind and rain though nothing really bad.  That was nice but a little nerve rattling too. I realize we all have to be caution but between the sirens and the weather men on the news on TV, I felt like we'd have to take cover any second.  It turns out that one tornado touched down in our county but in Liberty Hill (about 15 miles away from us).

I guess as a result of the storms for lack of a better reason it was really nice today. It didn't get higher than the mid 80's and we've been in the 90's the most recent days.  Well I'm off to relax and enjoy the rest of the evening.

Finally got around to taking some pictures of the balcony. It isn't totally done yet but it is looking nice!

We are thinking of a free standing hammock for the area near the table/chairs.  We used to have one back in PA by the above ground pool we had and I had forgotten until hubby told me.  I think there is plenty of room for one.  :)

I did spend some time this morning up there with a cup of coffee.  It was really nice and especially great to not have to watch for wasps or mosquitoes!!

Today is Friday and I'm done work.  YIPPEE!!   This was a long hard work week but they did open up some overtime this weekend so I'm taking it while it is available.  I am so glad they realized it is hard to do what needs to be done every day in the regular 8 hours allotted.

The balcony is looking really good.  I will take some pictures tomorrow.

This evening my sister and I made plans to eat out.  We tried a restaurant that was in a retirement community called Sun City.  It was nice getting out and catching up with her.  The food was just okay.  My sister bought a used silver Mercedes sports car convertible.  It was fun riding in it with the top down.  It is an older model but I know she'll have fun running around town with it. It sits very low so it is a little hard to get in and out of. LOL.

Looking forward to the weekend. It will be some work and some play.  I plan to spend a little time on the balcony for sure, though it is going to get to the upper 90's I think. It will likely be with morning coffee or after dinner.

Today was a rough day at work.  Getting extremely busy.  I hope they open up some OT soon before my brain explodes.  LOL

We got the rest of the rugs for the balcony and have purchased a small table and chairs to go up there so we can eat something light up there at times.  I will take some pictures this weekend to show off. :)

I'm really beat from the stressful day, so this is going to stay short.  Tomorrow is Friday eve, YIPPEE!

Today was a busy day at work which is okay as it makes the day go faster.  The rugs that I ordered for our screened in balcony came.  I'll take a picture when we got them down.  I just wonder how much it will rain in with it being screened in.  I hope not much since they covered the deck with a mildew, water resistant type of boarding and there are no holes for any water to drain.  So it will be interesting to see.  Unless we get a lot of sideways rain I don't see it ever being a problem.  It was suppose to rain this evening but it appears to have moved just to the east of us.

Hubby freshly painted a table that we put out on the balcony but he was walking backwards and forgot about the doggy steps we have next to the bed.  He fell down and I was really worried about his back. He seems to be okay, just got a few bruises (I hope).  An antique lamp that he had on his side table broke as he hit it so there was a lot of glass to be picked up.  It could have been a lot worse though so hopefully he continues to be 'okay'.

I can't believe it is June already! This year is really going by fast.  The heat is definitely here in Texas though.  Oh, speaking of heat, we tried the portable air conditioner last night in our bedroom but it was really loud!  So we turned it off when we went to bed (kept the door closed) and put the overhead fan on.  That worked well enough for me and I think hubby was fine with that too, so I think that is the plan for the hot nights at least for now.  We don't really know 100% what is wrong with the central air system for the 2nd floor but if it is a crushed pipe under the house like the A/C repair man said was the likely problem, it will be over $1000 to fix. No thank you!

I didn't blog yesterday because I was tired and wasn't up for it.  Yesterday morning after I exercised, I wanted to clean the beige wall of the balcony that I don't think was cleaned at all by the contractor because he didn't do any more than really necessary.

I thought that would be easy but using a rag and bucket and scrubbing the wall was actually almost more work than the painting on Saturday.  I got pretty hot too but I got it done.  Hubby also worked on replacing the broken wood frame.  He painted it today.  Looks a lot better than it did before.

I also took a photo of the cement repair he had done on the front porch area.  It looks better now too (dried).

Remember when I said the company that provided and installed the screens ripped off part of a frame to a block window we have?  Here is 2 photos of it. You can tell it was just yanked off. It had been liquid nailed on there so that it was secure when we had the bathroom remodeled.  Hubby is going to fix it tomorrow.

This morning I spent 3 hours painting the trim that the contractor didn't paint and also they had not painted around the doors or windows.  He was supposed to paint everything on the balcony.  It is done now though and it looks great.  I took my time and it was done right.  I also touched up some areas that I saw needing to be touched up that the contractor painted.

Here are some pictures of that.
