Happy Easter Sunday

Happy Easter to those who celebrate it!  To those that do not, Happy Sunday!!

Sunday is supposed to be the day of rest. But how many of us truly rest on Sundays? There are many a Sunday that I work at my desk as opposed to lounging around on my couch watching 'B' movies and playing with the fur kids.  In fact even when I am not working, I still exercise every Sunday and often also walk the dogs. Sundays are often, catch up on laundry and tidy up the house day too. Maybe that is not considered work, but to me anything other than doing nothing is work.

And today is a special day to those who believe that Jesus died for our sins.   Sometimes when I allow my thoughts to wander I think about heaven, if there is one. I do believe there is because I do not wish to believe we live then die. The end.  It is much more intriguing, even hopeful to think that our spirit never dies. That this time on earth is like a split second to the time in heaven.  Then I wonder how anyone recognizes you when you die, if your body stays in the dirt and only your spirit leaves....without facial recognition, how does that work.  Does one just 'know'?

Then there's the thoughts about even getting TO heaven. When you die, is it just spontaneous whether you are in where the 'light' is or where there is only darkness (or the only light is a burning fire)? Hmm. about that burning fire, we always equate hell with burning fire. I'm not sure where that came from but if we are only spirits at that point, why would it matter if there were fires?  No flesh anymore to burn.

Sometimes I wonder if there is an actual line waiting at the Pearly Gates. Perhaps I've watched Heaven Can Wait one too many times. :)  Is there someone there, perhaps God himself with a clipboard as to all the good that I have done in my life and will it be enough?  I do work a lot!  But sometimes I wonder if it is God's purpose for me to volunteer more, like at the local animal shelter?  I haven't done any volunteering this year at all yet, because I have been working instead.  It is selfish that I work instead of volunteer more?  Even though I work so that we can gain a lead on just the household bills? Even though it is so we can get that new roof, new bathroom and gradually new flooring?  I know I could put all these things in God's hands but I think if I don't work so much, that these things will just not come to pass just because I put them in his hands. What if God placed me in this job to give me the opportunity TO work extra and make money for these home improvements?

This post got very 'deep' didn't it?  What better day to bring up these thoughts that cross my mind from time to time than Easter!  Well, off to spend this day with family.

Soggy Saturday

Okay so it isn't really soggy out but we did get a little rain and thunderstorm before dawn. It looks like it will still rain but I'm not sure that we are suppose to get any more rain today. I'm sitting here in my bathrobe, drinking coffee and looking at a few of my dogs that are sleeping nearby. You'd think they had a long hard day already, but the day has just started. I snapped this shot the other evening as I caught our teensy Ditzy (to me 10 lbs is teensy) sleeping on one of our leather theater chairs (we have the console in the middle that can hold two drinks and the center piece pulls up to reveal storage space I guess for chips).  Anyway she is so adorable sleeping, no?
The hummingbirds are back!  I noticed a few hovering around one of the feeders outside my office window the other day and I alerted hubby that he needs to fill them up.  So nice to see them again!  I am just amazed at how fast they can move their wings!  We thought one was stuck in the garage yesterday but turns out it was just a HUGE moth!  It was hard to tell at first. But as we got closer the body was definitely bug-like and not bird-like! :)   I was able to set it free when the Pizza was delivered.

Going to see the new Oz movie today as that apparently got better reviews than The Host.  We want to see the movie with Halle Berry in it too (I think its title is The Call) but that is one that can just be rented at a later time.  To me big screen movies are for special effects viewing! So...later today we'll be 'off to see the Wizard'.  :)

Good Friday

It is a good Friday, because the youngest is here for the weekend.  Yeah!!  She got here in time for Pizza (and beer).  Well she didn't partake of the beer although she is of age.  We are contemplating going to see a movie tomorrow. Not sure if we will see The Host or the Oz movie.  One I definitely don't ever want to see is Evil Dead. That is one of those horror movies that I can't imagine how anyone finds entertaining. Took a nice walk with one of the dogs and my youngest after dinner. We came up to one house that I did a double take as I saw a dog that looked exactly like our Merlin (blue merle) sheltie.  We don't think it lives there as we haven't see it before. Just was so weird at first. Molly didn't seem to be particularly excited about it being there, maybe she thought it was Merlin too.

Anyway it is a nice mild 72 degrees out right now.  Should stay nice this weekend too although there is some chance for rain which we need so no complaints here about that potential!  And no work this weekend for me.  It will be nice to just relax, visit with family and think about the meaning of Easter and give some thanks to God's son who gave his life for us.  I've been watching some of those Bible episodes on cable television. The are pretty good. I have yet to see the last two shows of them. Hopefully they'll show them as re-runs for the next week or so that I can see them.  Off to do some visiting!

Maundy Thursday

This won't be a long blog. I'm tired!  Long day of work. And yes have to work tomorrow even though it is Good Friday.  But that is ok. No plans to work this weekend at all and the youngest will be home again, yeah!

I will need to see if there is any good Easter candy left! :)   I'm hoping the below freezing weather here is finally over!  I really would like to get some flowers to plant up on the balcony!

I went to the Farmers Market for once as I am out of the local honey I like to use on my cream of wheat, toast, waffles, etc.  I picked up some apricot honey as well to try on toast (like a jelly) so that will be good I hope.

Well nite!  I said it would be short :)

Birthday Poem for my Dad

A birthday Poem:  For You Dad

Today is your birthday, 87 years…
Glad that you live so near me here….
This way I have you close and dear…
And we can share another beer…

You’ve kept your brain right on the ridge…
of being sharp with all your bridge…
Just wanted to say I’m proud of you
And wish you lots more birthdays too!

Love, Diane
