Update on Dad

Wanted to let family who read this blog know that dad got through his operation okay yesterday.  They removed the bladder stones and are hoping that will help him to go on his own.  He goes back on the 29th when they will remove the catheter and then hopefully he will go on his own. Unfortunately his prostate is very enlarged too so they are hoping with meds that will resolve itself.  If he still cannot go on his own they may have to remove his prostrate.  Hopefully the stone removal will be enough. My hubby got up and left the house at 5:30AM to take him, waited until he was done in recovery and brought him home. Unfortunately my dad got sick on the way home, from the Anesthesia, but I went over and met hubby at my folks house and helped Steve with the clean up.It mostly was on dad's clothes, the car wasn't that bad. They released him too soon in my opinion but I guess they want to empty the beds so that they can be used again.  Oh well. That is the VA hospital but that is who my dad wants to have treat him so that's that.

I'm pretty sure my sister stayed overnight with them which was nice.  I'm not positive but that was the plan.  Her hubby and son were away at scout camp this week anyway so she's probably pretty lonely.

I am working this weekend mostly because I am off on Monday and left a lot of work tonight.  I don't have any real plans for Monday other than to RELAX.  Will have to think about what I want to do.

I think getting up at 6:30AM, walking and then walking one of the dogs part way is a bit much.  I was really dragging today.  I try to walk in the early morning so that I don't need to slather sun tan lotion on nor walk when it is really hot at the end of the day.  I walk probably close to 2 1/2 miles when I walk a dog afterward, so I don't know if that is it or just not enough sleep at night.  I still catch a few minutes of Jimmy Fallon every night.  Will see if my stamina improves any.  I may have to skip walking one of the dogs after my walk.  I used to take a dog with me on my walk but they stop every two seconds and I cannot get any kind of power walk in if I'm stopping every other mailbox. :)

Well Off to make a Kahlua and cream (er milk...we're out of cream) and watch TV.

Getting Ready again!

Weather man said we can get a ton of rain again tomorrow and Wednesday!  We really don't need any more rain right now but I just hope everyone will be okay and it won't be the sort of flooding that they are anticipating!  It is coming off the Gulf Coast...

Worked a lot this weekend and so stopped at just after 5:00PM tonight.  I love stopping at a decent time on Mondays and Fridays.  It makes working late Tues/Wed/Thurs more bearable. :-)

Went to lunch with my sister on Saturday. We ate at Chipolte (Mexican type restaurant).  There is one only a few miles from where I live but I had never been there.  It was good. I would eat there again.

Really been humid these days and after my walk this morning I was practically drenched in sweat.  Luckily I wait to wash up for the day until I get back from those walks. I try to give myself 5-10 minutes though first so that I'm not just sweating again (or rather still) after I've gotten all dressed for the day.

Well going to do a little singing and then relax with hubby.

Catch up time

The dogs are much better now.  Merlin was better by the later part of Sunday afternoon. Kaci was better by Monday.  I tried to get a pill in Kaci's mouth on Sunday even hiding it in a piece of cheese, etc., only to have her spit it out.  I even open her mouth, put the pill as far back as I could in her mouth and help her mouth shut and stroked her neck and she still managed to spit it out.  So Sunday I gave up. She was at least drinking water so that was good. But as I said by Monday she was better.  Now they are both back to normal and eating nicely.  So that is good.  Still don't know exactly what it was but glad it is over.  I'm glad we still have some of the meds too so if it ever happens again we can use them.

Sunday we saw San Andreas with 'the Rock'.  It was really riveting and had me on the edge of my seat almost the entire movie. I'm not going to lie there were more than a few scenes that were unbelievable but as long as you went with the flow of the movie it was really good!!

I got some work in this weekend too, to the point where I was caught up by Sunday night. So Monday I did not work late.  Of course Tuesday (yesterday) was a bear as the work was loaded up.  But hey, job security right?  Today I took a half day off.  It is the first vacation time I took off this year so far!  It was weird clocking off at noon, but I got over that quickly as hubby and I were on our way to Longhorn steakhouse for a leisurely lunch.  I got the Parmesan crusted chicken (thanks Stacey!! it was great) and we both got appetizers too so there is plenty of leftovers for another meal.

Right now we are enjoying Margaritas which I would be drinking out on the balcony if it wasn't 92 degrees out in the shade.  :)
Looking forward to a relaxing evening before back to work tomorrow.  Oh I didn't mention I got up early again and took my walk and got back early enough to walk Merlin about half of the normal walk as well.  So definitely got a good walking workout today. So I don't have to feel guilty about all this food and drink I'm indulging in right ;-)

Surprise Saturday..

Well not really. No surprise that the dining room was full of areas of diarrhea from Merlin but rather the tile than on rug.  It was pretty bad although I only saw a little of it as hubby cleaned much of it up before I came downstairs.  What woke me up was Kaci who had worked her way upstairs and her heaving near the bed got me up.  She didn't get real sick but that was enough for me to call the vet when they opened.  Luckily they had an opening for us so we took both of them.  Merlin had lost 3 lbs (but that was since he was there which was a while ago).

She gave them each a shot to help hydrate them and then gave us meds for both of them to help diarrhea and an antibiotic and I was just so grateful we could get them both in. They were both really really lethargic.  She  couldn't really say exactly what it was, although likely something they were each spreading to each other. The plan was more to treat the symptoms.

Merlin actually ate some eggs tonight, not the whole thing but at least 4-5 bites.  I got him to eat one of the pills they gave us too (wrapped in cheese). Kaci is still not very responsive, so I had to put her pill way back in her throat to get it in her.She spit it out the first 3 times.  Luckily neither one has gotten sick nor had diarrhea since we got back from their appointment around noon.  Hopefully tomorrow they'll both be much better!

Fun Friday..not really

Okay so yes I'm glad it is Friday night.  I'm not working tonight and just watching the tail end of Jurassic Park. I forgot how intense it is.  I just need to remind myself I've seen it before, several times.  But this is where to boy almost gets fried by the electric wires.

The part about today that is not fun is that one of our dogs is sick well actually two have gotten sick but Merlin also has diarhhea and it is getting very liquidy.  The thing is that Molly was getting sick a few days ago and didn't want to eat but now she is fine.  Merlin didn't want to eat today and then started getting sick and this evening Kaci got sick but a few hours later she still wanted her treat (so I gave her a small one). Maybe that will be all that she has.  I'm wondering if they are just spreading a stomach bug amongst themselves.  If  Merlin isn't feeling a little better by tomorrow morning I will call our vet but don't know if we can get him in. Hopefully he'll just be better tomorrow!!

They haven't been to a dog park where they might pick up something and it has been a few weeks since they were groomed so I don't think it would have been anything picked up from there.  Well Ditzy and Molly got groomed last week but still it has been over a week.

Hopefully Merlin will just feel better tomorrow.  They rarely ever get sick and are up to date on all their rabies and other shots. I may be a few weeks behind on the heartworm medicine but don't think that would be it.

Well no point in worrying about it tonight although I'm going to suggest confining Merlin to the dining room or something after seeing what is coming out of him I don't want a mess all over the living room tomorrow morning (and the dining room is all tile).

I did have a little fun today singing a few songs on singsnap.  I'm so glad I was told about that website.

Spoke too soon.  Kaci just got sick.. It is going to be a long night!

Okay didn't blog this morning. Yes I did get up early to walk but when I got back I was trying to get the regular volume button in the task bar back to the computer hubby is using because he cannot sing on singsnap now without sounding like he is singing into a cup!  Couldn't get it to work though. Tried calling a computer place yesterday who has helped me before but no call back yet.  May end up just getting a refurbished desktop somewhere.  But if that doesn't solve the issue I won't be happy and neither will he.

Had the metal roofing guy here today. He was very nice and very honest.  He said the roof is in great shape although there are a few places he'd like to repair that have had some sealant wear away. But all in all once that is done we should be in good shape for at least 5 years if not more so that makes me a happy camper!

Update on dad.  He went to the VA urologist last week where they performed that scope procedure. The procedure itself did not get rid of any of his bladder stones. He is going to have some laser surgery done on June 19th to get them zapped (disintegrated).  Whether that solves his problems or not, who knows but it needs to be done so he's having it done. Will be same day procedure (no overnight hospital stay).  He has to go in a week before for chest x-rays and a few other things to be sure everything is fine for him to have the procedure done (as they do give him some anaesthesia). I'm sure hoping that it solves his issues with not being able to go on his own. If not, well he is used to using the bladder bag and if that is what he'll have to do, that's what he'll have to do.

Not much else new with me. Still working a lot.  Off to relax for the rest of the evening.
