Something I rarely do

What did I do today that I don't think I have done the entire time we moved here? Took a nap!!  Yes except for sleeping at night I am not a napper, never have been.  But helping my folks on top of working a lot and I have been getting very tired the last several days. So today I was trying to get some work done and felt suddenly sleepy. So I told hubby I was going to take a nap.  He thought it was a great idea!  He's knows how much I've been running.  So I went upstairs to bed and got a nice 2 hour nap in!  I wasn't sure if I'd feel even more tired when I got up but I wasn't. I was refreshed.

We have had some really nice days this past week. Some days were even up in the 70's.  So it just seems really weird to hear how back on the east coast there are some areas getting so much snow that they are running out of places to put it all.  Yikes!  Sure glad I moved to somewhere warmer.

I have been watching the 40th anniversary show of SNL (Saturday night live) while writing this. 40 years is a long time!  First year was 1975 so I feel like it was my our era since I graduated high school in ’75 and remember watching all the time in college and a lot of the time since then.  I don’t think it is nearly as good as it was back in those days '75-'80 or so, but it is the only thing on Saturday nights and it is tradition at this point.

This morning after helping my dad I exercised finally. It had been a few days since I have done that.  So that felt good. Then I started to get to work.  I noticed it was feeling rather cold in the house.  Something my hubby does is open a door a little when it is suppose to get warm out.  Okay may be the high is in the low 70's by mid-afternoon but it is still in the 50's in the morning!!  So I end up shutting the door because sit isn't warm YET!  :-)
Here I was getting ready to turn the heat on and he's got a door open. Oye!!

Since we need to be around for my dad we decided not to go out at all for Valentine's Day. So I made a steak and lobster tail dinner which was very good!  Nothing like steak made on cast iron! I made enough to take dinner to my folks. They enjoyed it!

Happy Valentine's Day!

TGIF

It is Friday. Pizza was good, beer hit the spot and I stopped work at a good time.   Then it was over to help my dad and then make dinner. I am back home now for a bit.

I am wondering about the movie Fifty Shades of Grey.  I never read the book and wonder if it is really that good, or mostly hype. Maybe we'll catch a movie next weekend but probably not that one.  I'm working this weekend trying to play catch up.  Tomorrow night we are having steak and lobster tail for Valentine's dinner, cooking a home on my cast iron.  Yum!

I can really start seeing the daylight earlier and it being later when the sun goes down. Yes!!!

Getting there...

Tomorrow is Friday. Yah!  I did get up early today at 5:30AM to get a jump on work. Thank goodness I did as I had a lot of work to do and got a good bit done even though I went over and made my folks dinner tonight.  My dad seems to be getting his appetite back which is great!

I have definitely found out over the last few days that I am not the caregiver type.  I just am not. I will do what is needed for my folks but I think looking into a full time or even night time nurse is going to be the best thing for all.  When I need to drop everything and go over it makes it a little tough, and my sister has been running around getting herself exhausted too.

Hopefully we will be able to get some nursing care for him soon.  Until then, will do what is needed.  I've been so busy between work and my dad that I hardly had a moment to appreciate how beautiful it was the last few days!  Spring is definitely coming!

Whipped Wednesday

It is 10:00PM and I'm whipped!  Started work early, went to help my folks out on my dad's first evening out of the hospital. Dinner, dishes, etc...and now I'm beat. I was going to come back home and work. Not gonna happen now.

Going to try to get an early start tomorrow.

Was it Tuesday?

Didn't seem like a Tuesday to me because I usually take a late lunch and visit my mom while my dad directs bridge but since he is still in the hospital I didn't go over until dinner time to make my mom her meal.  Hopefully dad will be home by the weekend. It would be nice!  I can really tell mom misses him.

It was another beautiful day out today in the upper 70's! Ah!  It lifts my spirits so much when it is nice out! :)

Going to go relax and watch some TV with hubby.

Beautiful Day!

It is sunny, and 79 degrees out right now.  (writing this at lunch time) Woo hoo!

For those of you concerned about my dad, he is better although still in the hospital. My theory is that he got some sort of bug  (stomach bug ?) which made him get sick for a few days, but then he wasn't hungry and eating less and less weakening him and causing him to not be able nor want to do very much. He was sleeping a lot too. I think he got extremely dehydrated which resulted in the kidneys starting to shut down (renal failure).  Sure glad got him in the hospital on Saturday. His creatinine level went from 12 Saturday to 6 yesterday to 3 something today so that is a huge improvement. Hopefully he'll be able to go home in a few days.

I know from my own experience with one of my daughters how deadly dehydration can be (she got ill as a child and became severely dehydrated).  Elderly folks are bound to be compromised just as little children are when they get sick.  I am going to be more watchful of this with him. I kept asking him if he was okay and he kept saying "Yes".  Note to self, do not believe father who is always in denial if he isn't feeling well.

One of my sisters is there visiting him today so I am trying to get a full day of work in while helping mom out too. She is elderly and can't get around very well so I am making a few meals and such.  Luckily they live very close to me. :-)
